Speaking of Amazing processing times.  You can read how slow the I-751 applications have become.

Frustrating IS an understatement. We just got a response back from our most recent service request in December. We got the same response that we did in September: we have been placed in the appointment queue and will be notified when we are scheduled. It's just so annoying because people after us are getting their biometrics letters and here we are 6 months later without anything. Well....guess we're getting strapped in for a long ride. Time to read up more on getting a stamp.

Aw man. I was just wondering whether you have heard anything back. I STILL have received nothing. Have there been any cases where people didn't receive their biometrics appointment even after the 1 year extension is up?

Have you gotten your NOA1 but not your biometrics yet? I can't comment on not getting biometrics after a whole year, but I've poked around the forums and heard of cases that take 2 years+. I'm really hoping they get their stuff together soon.

Yes I have gotten my NOA1 but no biometrics. Actually contemplating maybe just applying for the N-400 soon but it seems I can't unless the 751 is at least processed first?

It's been asked a lot here, especially recently..

Yes, you can apply for US citizenship.

"Early Filing: An applicant filing as the spouse of a U.S. citizen under section 319(a) of the INA may file up to 90 days before meeting the required 3-year period of continuous residence as an LPR."

https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/n-400instr.pdf    p.4

And if your I-751 is still pending by the time of your N-400 interview, you might have "two-in-one" and, most likely, will never see your 10 years green card , at all, if you get 2 approval at the interview..

Seems like it's happening now more often due to loooooooong processing time of I-751...

Looks like it's possible to do both, like Ksenia mentioned. Some people speculate it speeds up your ROC (which is a moot point if you get your citizenship approved) and some people says it just takes a standard amount of time. I'm not sure what the process would be like without even receiving biometrics. Would be interesting to hear from people in that specific case.

My husband is getting rather frustrated as well. He's sick of going through some sort of hoop every six months in order to live a normal life so he's pretty eager to get his N-400 done asap. So it appears as if we'll be going that route as well once our window opens up.

True... If I didn't have a dependent on my I-751, I'd definitely file N-400 as soon as window opens.

Thanks for responding everyone. Yep seems like N400 will be the way to go. I guess since my extension is up in August the window opens up May/June-ish...which means I should start looking into it more now.

Great.

More. Paperwork. <_<

There is a possibility to file N-400 on-line :)

Ok, so just to make sure I got this right:

- I751 is extremely delayed so we are allowed to apply for the N400 once we are 90 days from our extension expiring.

I have some questions though, WHEN do I have to get an I551 stamp? And where would I go for this?

I have some questions though, WHEN do I have to get an I551 stamp? And where would I go for this? - Closer to your Extension Letter expiration date. So, if it's expired in August, I'd suggest to get a stamp in July, about a month before. You should make an InfoPass (at your local USCIS office)  - without an appointment the I-551 stamp, most likely, won't be given. You should bring your valid passport, your Extension Letter  and your green card. Just make a copy of the card  before your appointment - very often a green card is kept/taken by USCIS in exchange for a stamp. But you never know until you are there, at the office.

The Expiration of my NOA1 is  September of 2018, but I will try to get my passport stamped in July, 2018.

My son already has  his I-551 stamp since he has never gotten his Extension Letter. And it'll be expired in July... So, will try to "sneak" with him to get that "miracle" stamp ;) I've heard some people weren't given the stamp due to "too early and their NOA1 were still valid".... Will see.

you are welcome!!!!

No, we are not out of status. Only our  Ext.Letter gets expired, but not our status and we are still  LPR.

And if you are not planning to travel outside of the US after your Extension latter is expired..Or you don't have to renew your Driver License... Or your employer doesn't ask for any proof of your residency here.. then you don't really have to get your passport stamped.

Have a question about N-400. The condition mention in A Guide to Naturalization pdf as below:

Requirements :

If you are at least 18 years old and:
Are currently married to and living with a U.S. citizen;
and
Have been married to and living with that same U.S.
citizen for the past 3 years;
and
Your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the past 3 years.

Time as Permanent Resident:
3

Continuous Residence:
3 years as a Permanent Resident without leaving the
United States for trips of 6 months or longer.

Source : https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/chapter4.pdf

Condition 1 : Have been married to and living with that same U.S.
citizen for the past 3 years;

We married in November 2014 and she came back US and do my paperwork.
I am living with my spouse from September 2015.  In September 2018 , we will complete 3 years.

Condition 2 : 3 years as a Permanent Resident without leaving the
United States for trips of 6 months or longer.

Got Permanent Resident in september 2015.

In both condition they are asking complete 3 years.
So, I am eligible in September 2018 or June last July first 2018 ? Please guide...
