They said that the fire they had in California has caused a backlog in their scheduling department. Maybe we talked to the same person who gave both of us the same excuse haha. It is so frustrating! I was worried I did something wrong with my application...hoping that's not the case. I may try and call again this weekend but not feeling too hopeful with the results.

Haha, yeah same ol' song and dance. We called today and a tier II said it was because of holidays and and influx of requests for travel documents.

Which brings me to my phone call today. Finally talked to a tier II today and we got some confusing results. She said our case is just starting to be processed. While tier I's said that our case was outside of normal processing time, the TII said that it was in the beginning stages and to call back the middle of January or the end of January. Since I was told by TI's that we're outside of the norm and didn't put up a stink when I asked for a service request, the TII that I talked with said that it wasn't necessary at this point. She said that people think it helps, but sometimes it slows cases down and to call back in January. After a little bit, she finally looked at the numbers (repeated July 8 instead of June 8th) and was like well it looks like I could put one in for you. So we ended with me asking for a service request and no confirmation that it was actually done. :/ So here's to hoping the request actually gets initiated.

*le sigh* Seems like CSC is overloaded and understaffed.

Thanks for posting your results Coogah. Do you mind giving me the # you called to get access to Tier II? I called a number before but I'm fairly sure it may have been a Tier I person. I will try and give them a call next week and will report back. Getting really worried now as I haven't received anything (aside from my extension letter)  since June =/

You can get to a tier II with the standard number to USCIS customer service: 1 (800) 375-5283. I don't know if you've talked to them much, but if you got your NOA in June, they should be telling you that it appears your case it out of standard processing time. To get your biometrics it should be about 30 days--is what I think someone quoted me if I remember right. So every time I've called and asked for a status update they've told me it looks like we're out of standard processing time. So they start to fill a service request for our case and say that they run into a roadblock and need to transfer me to a tier II in order to process the service request for us. I assume this is because our case still isn't fully into the USCIS system as we haven't gotten a proper case number yet.

So yeah, the number you call gets you in the door and they can transfer you to a tier II if need be. So next time, ask for a service request and the customer service rep may hit the same brick wall and have to transfer you to a tier II in order to complete the service request. It seems like there's a handful of us that just drew the short straw and didn't get our biometrics letter yet. Maybe if enough people submit requests they'll notice something is up with CSC being overloaded.

Anyone's case moving?? I check my case every few days and it still says "your case was received..."...Just curious what other's are experiencing...

Thanks

If you have you're with CSC and have biometrics, I'd consider yourself lucky. I think I saw a handful of January 2017 filers approved, otherwise CSC is still processing I751s from last year still.

Thank you! Already approved?! WOW. And I did have my biometrics in July so I am lucky I guess ...This wait is insane though..

So what's the typical time frame then : 12-15 months?

I just looked too and all of the lucky approved ones are from Vermont Service! Good for them though! Our time is coming too...

Nope, for CSC you're looking for at least 1 year, even 2 if things keep moving at this pace. It's frustrating.

The most frustrating part with CSC is that every month there are a few people that don't receive biometrics appointments. But in the following months, people that file AFTER those that haven't received their letter get their biometrics appointment.

Maybe everyone that is over the 30 day wait for biometrics after receiving their NOA1 needs to make service request to let CSC know they're letting people fall between the cracks every month.

I gave up on appointment for Biometrics, I called multiple times, talked to multiple tier agents, received emails saying "I should wait" or "hear back soon" and nothing happened. My guess is that either my biometrics are too new so they dont need newer ones, or they're just super busy as usual and can't get me an appointment yet.

Yes you can, you can apply 3 months before the 3 year anniversary of your sponsored visa. I heard mix results about the implications of doing that though, some people say your RoC has to be finished first in order to be approved for citizenship, others say it speeds up the process.

Yes, you can.

"Early Filing: An applicant filing as the spouse of a U.S. citizen under section 319(a) of the INA may file up to 90 days before meeting the required 3-year period of continuous residence as an LPR."

https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/n-400instr.pdf    p.4

And if your I-751 is still pending by the time of your N-400 interview, you might have two-in-one.. Seems like it's happening now more often,  due to "amazing" processing time of I-751...
