Well here we are again, going through this journey with you all.  I sent our packet back on 5/31 and hope for a smooth process.  Some of the things we included were as follows;

- IRS Transcripts

- Rental Agreement

- Joint Bank Statement

- Joint Utility Bills

- Beneficiaries on each other's life insurance policy

- Joint Car Insurance policy 2005 to present

- Title for car we purchased together

- Target and Amex statements

- Vet bills showing us as joint financially responsible parties

- Picture collage book (over 100 pictures of us at various functions with each other and friends)

Feeling hopeful that we have provided sufficient evidence of our good faith marriage.

Looks good to me :)

Hope you will have your NOA1 soon.. maybe this week

I'm working on my package right now and going through our bank statements... Have a question - did you, guys, highlight something there - like house payments, utility, cell phones and etc. - or just sent it without any notes?...

Ksenia,

I did highlight areas of importance on each of the bill, specially if there was something that I was trying to prove with the document.  I put all of my documents in sheet protectors and then added a label on each protector stating the document type and a small explanation if needed.

ROC

5/31/17 mailed packet to CSC priority mail

6/05/17 NOA1 received.  (Dated 6/1/2017)

6/17/17 NOA2 received.  Biometrics Appt. on 6/27

Hi PauPau , thanks for your reply on the transcripts.   I will order the return transcripts.

Do you, or anyone,  have any insight on my other questions? thanks Again.

1) on the i751 form (yeah only 1 form!) , Part 5 is "your children" ..whose children? Mine or my spouse? I have no kids but he has 2. ( if his, the question about 'is child applying with you?' throws me off)

2) part of evidence... affidavits  ..do they have to be notarized?

4)I am planning to travel Aug 4-14 to Canada, so I was told that after filing a NOA1 will be sent which basically gives you a 1 yr extension. However since my GC will still be valid , I don't really need it in order to re-enter the US.  Question: since my driver's license is based on  my proof of residency , when do I renew my license - before the GC expiration date or do I wait until that date? When renewed, I guess it will be renewed for only 1 yr and then I will have to go again after I get the 10yr GC?

I was thinking of doing the same thing! In the bank statements, my husband's name is written on the first page, and my name as a joint owner is on the second page. That info could be easily missed. Will work on my packet tonight!! I want to seal the package asap so I don't keep on flipping the pages LOL

Just received my first NOA.  It stated that they had received the application and payment.  Also that the letter served as a year extension to the Green Card and that I would be receiving another notice in the upcoming days for the biometrics appointment.

tdotca,

1) That question is referring to any children in the relationship.  Now that you are married, his kids are your kids in essence.  Put them all there.  There is a section where it asks if they are also applying.  If so, you have to add the biometrics fee for each child that will be applying for adjustment of status.  If not, then all you do is list them and put the information requested on the form.

2) I have heard mixed answers on the affidavits.  I have always had my references notarize the documents.  That certifies that they in fact verified their identity.

4)  Your driver's license is valid as long as you are legal in the country and as long as the license itself hasn't expired.  Since you have that letter that states that you are legal for one more year, then the license will still be valid.

Wow that was fast! I was curious how long it takes to receive the extension letter.

Hi All I was asked for more evidence back on May 30th, I gathered a whole pile of more docs and sent it off, they received it on June 2nd at the Vermont office. I'm just curious, anyone have any idea or a ballpark timeline for how long it takes them to come to a decision after asking for more documentation? I've heard as little as two weeks, but I am not sure if this is common place. Thanks!

mpottier,

When did you file for the removal of conditions?  From what I am hearing is that cases are taking from 9 to 12 months to resolve.  What type of evidence did you submit that they thought it wasn't enough?  If you received an RFE for insufficient evidence that will prolong the wait of when your case is resolved.  Again, depending on when you initially filed, that will help you gauge how much longer you need to wait.

I also got "stuck" at this point... I have a son (K2) and it's clear he will be mentioned on I-751. I also have a step daughter, my US husband's US kid.. And I'm not sure if I should mention her. She has her mom and dad, she is at her mom's 50% of the time, and with us - 50%. So, I don't know...

My friend was in the same boat and she even visited the local USCIS office in TX, trying to find the proper answer to that question... Well, the answer was switched into "you can mention the kid and just say it's your step kid".

Seems like this form is "self-explanatory" meaning you do it as you understand it :( So, she didn't mention her step child on the I-751.

My understanding is  -  you should list ALL your children, and you will do so when and if you file for US citizenship, the form N400 has clear and straight explanations WHO need to be mention as "ALL YOUR CHILDREN"...

BUT it seems to work fine either way for the I-751. I tend to not specify my step kid on the I-751..

I'm on the phone so I can't coy and paste,  but go back to the form instructions.  Under Who may file it says essentially list any children for who you need to remove conditions in part 5. So,  that to me implies only  listing children adjusting with you.
