You are an awesome guy! wish you and your wife a great life! I sent some of what you sent but I did not send a copy of passports since we did not travel outside after we married!  did they send your case to local office before they approved you?

Yes, you can see that on my timeline below. I got the system glitch message that my case was transferred to local office but i did not receive any letter as confirmation. I have to send a copy of my passport since the one that they have on file for my AOS was expired already.

I might call them tomorrow and ask..  we never filled that G-28 form.. what am worried is where did the original letter go??  i hope not to those fraud people ☹️

Hi all!!!  For those who received the unofficial “courtesy copy”.

I’m a January 2018 filer. (I also post this to January  thread)

I called uscis and after being on hold for almost an hour the lady told me that they probably made a “mistake” and the original letter was sent out to my previous attorney because their info was on the system.  She said for me to call the attorney to check if they received the letter or to check with field office.

she sounded  like a “mistake” like that wasn’t a big deal.  Now I’m even more stressed because what if the 10-yearGC is sent out to my previous attorney.  Or what if my package or any rfe is sent to the attorney and not me.

I told the lady I didn’t use an attorney this time and form G-28 needed to be signed by us. Also I mentioned that first 12-month extension was delivered to me but not the 18-month extension letter. Also she check on my “status” and she said that it shows that no notifications have been sent out at all.

I’m calling again tomorrow...

At at this point I’m thinking on going to field office and to get things straightened out.

Sounds like the USCIS rep triggered even more questions.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m sorry that long phone call didn’t help you much though!

I think the more we call uscis will make them Aware of their mistake.

Lol. calling uscis is always a long wait.

I refuse to believe they send the “official” notice  to lawyer I used on 2015.    I’m definitely calling tomorrow and I hope I can escalate the call to someone with database access.

You’re right, you might have gotten somebody who doesn’t even have access to any information, what is frustrating is that they give some random answers that just add up stress.

It is very unlikely that they sent your docs to a lawyer that wasn’t even listed on the current package.

It might be something as simple as a processing time gap between the courtesy notice and the official letter, and if it’s that- I wish the customer service rep would just say so.

I agree with Julia, I know its difficult, but it really is just a waiting game. My concern was if I called it would extend the process even more. Like one of my first bosses used to say, 'No news is good news'

These folks are just run over with things to process.

Thank you Julia for your comforting and positive words. I’m  trusting God everything is alright and like Javi76 mentioned hopefully that is just a computer glitch and we just got “lucky”. Lol. I’m still calling tomorrow.

It seems like a never ending stress. And you’re right no news is good news but this out of the blue “courtesy copy” when form G-28 wasn’t even submitted is making me very anxious 😖 just the thought of my previous lawyer having my documents is taking my peace away.

Thank you, Eli_za, for going the extra mile to find out what is going on.  I would not have waited on the phone for an hour and, if I did, I would have felt very frustrated to get the answers that the service rep gave you.   We have never used a lawyer and so the courtesy copy makes no sense.   Who could they have possibly sent the official notice to?  I plan to wait it out for a while and see if the official notification shows up.   At least that is what we hope.   Good luck and maybe someone else in Visa Journey land has an answer.

No, but I I decided to include my recent and unexpired passport on my evidences since I traveled internationally and I don't want an RFE since it will slower down the process, so I included all the pertinent documents to avoid RFE. total of 5 lbs for my package because of huge evidences I sent specially our joint account, I sent all the pages of the statements from 2015-2017 as well as our CMA account. :)

Good luck to you! I was going to share our international travel story sooner so people had an idea what it would be like. But here it is now:

When we checked in for our flight we couldn't do my husband's check in online. When we got to the airport, the person at the desk thought the stamp in the passport was a visa. Which is a totally valid assumption. He said that it didn't work and asked if we have another visa or document. I told him that the stamp was actually my husband's permanent resident card not a visa. So when he processed it as a green card, everything worked out fine. So slight confusion over what the heck the stamp actually is, but the guy was 100% understanding and so good natured about the whole thing.

When we landed in the US, we went in the line to use the self-service kiosks. Because it was either foreign passports or electronic kiosks. I wasn't sure what to scan for my husband's ID. We tried the actual stamp in his Korean passport and the picture side of his green card (I didn't know at the time that you actually scan the reverse). After 3 times it kicked us out and said go to the immigration desk. There were 2 either Delta or airport employees checking the slips the kiosks printed before we actually arrived in line for immigration. When they saw my husband didn't have one, they took him back to the kiosk and scanned his green card (this time on the reverse). I don't know what the kiosk said, but the employee turned to my husband and in a rather condescending tone and almost shouting said "Why are you traveling on an expired green card?".  I turned back around and told the employee that he has a stamp in his passport for it and the employee turned to me and said "It doesn't matter now." Just totally confused by the whole thing, I just let it go because I knew my husband was legally entering and immigration would process him accordingly. So the employee shoved a customs card into my husband's hands to fill out and put him in a separate line for non-citizens/residents. The funny thing: when my husband got to the immi officer, the officer promptly ripped up the customs card and said "You don't have to fill this out anymore.", looked at the stamp in the passport, and said "Welcome home." LOL So that was interesting.

I guess I'm not sure what the best way to go through immigration is in our situation now. Expired green card and stamp in the passport. I don't know if scanning his foreign passport at the kiosk would have brought up his legal status and printed off a ticket. But in any matter, the immigration officer knew what the stamp was and we got through without a problem there.

Anywho...have fun on your travels Ksenia! Hopefully your dream will come true and all of June will be approved! :D
