Has anyone here been called for an I-751 interview, specifically in Chicago? We just got a letter requesting my husband go for an interview and I come with in three weeks. I was really shocked to see it because I was under the assumption that it would get approved randomly and interviews were only for people with red flags .. but I was very thorough with paperwork and showing legitimacy of our relationship so now I'm a little worried! Any experience with this? We've already filed for citizenship so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it? Any advice is appreciated!

Did you check which form is it for in the top right corner? It’s probably a combined interview. I also applied for citizenship and got an interview letter and it says that it’s for N-400. Also I had to change the address recently and filed that online and they sent me an email stating:

Recently, you contacted us to update your address. We have updated your address in our systems and on your application or petition.

Recently, you contacted us about the status of your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, filed on June 22, 2017.  On June 27, 2018, you also filed a Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  Our records indicate that your Form I-751 and Form N-400 are currently pending and will be adjudicated at the same time.

Under "Reason for Appointment" it says "I-751 Interview" so I assumed it had nothing to do with N-400.. Also I tried updating our address online about a year ago (before filing N-400, but after filing I-751) and got a confirmation of updated address, yet the recent letter was sent to our old address and luckily it was forwarded because when I check online the status just says case received. Does anyone know how to assure that my address was changed? Seems weird that they would confirm via email but then still send the mail to my old address.. Would hate for other things to be sent there without it being forwarded.

Are you a June 2017 filer? This gives me hope. I'm in Chicago, and I filed June 2017 at CSC as well, and then for N-400 June 2018. Just got my passport stamped with the I-551 at Chicago USCIS (for 6 months only!), and haven't gotten my 18 month extension yet.

So looks like there's some movement at the Chicago office after all.

Yes, we filed I-751 in June 2017 and N-400 in May or June 2018 as well. We have not gotten passport stamped or extension letter yet so need to do that!! Did you have to book an appointment for the stamp?

Yeah, had to make an infopass appt. They're usually at least 2 weeks out in terms of appointments. If you need to get yours done (which you may not need to given your interview), i'd suggest getting the 7:30 am slot - you're amongst the first few there and out asap. It starts backing up rapidly after that.

I strongly recommend calling USCIS to ask them what address they have on file for you now. I changed my address back in March and received the same email, however, they never updated the address for my, pending at that time, I-751 petition. That caused me a lot of trouble and stress because they sent my approval letter and the new GC to my old address.

I actually believe my husband tried calling and they weren't able to confirm our address or any information about our case? Is there a certain number/extension/person to ask for?

I would just attend the interview assuming that the interview is going to be for both the I-751 and the N-400. You don't want to be in a situation where you go for the interview and you are not prepared well enough for either I-751 or N-400. Good luck!!

I read your posts. Thank you! But I also received a physical letter from USCIS at my new address stating they have updated it for my n-400 form and it has changed in my online profile on the dhs website. The email was for my I-751 and that’s why it was only an email and no letter I guess, because the cases are now combined. I also will have to do an infopass shortly to get my stamp, because I have to renew my drivers licence, so I will confirm it with them again then.

You should request to speak with a tier 2 officer, they have an access to this kind of information. When I called USCIS back in March, tier 1 officer was totally useless, he said if I received an email confirmation that the address was changed, however, obviously it wasn't changed for my pending petition. Maybe you are lucky and they actually did everything properly in your case :)

Thank you! I think in my case they actually did update the address, because they also sent me a naturalization interview letter and it has my new address on it. And they are not going to look at my green card case until the combined interview on October 1. Never hurts to ask when I am there though.
