DS-160 National Identification Number

For the DS-160, Personal 2 "National Identification Number" , does Canada have one? Is it the social insurance number? The only answer I could find was back in 2011, which said to check off Does Not Apply. I just wanted to confirm that.

A quick search brought this thread up.  It looks like a few people have entered their Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) and had it goes through with no problems.

I imagine you could put does not apply (as it is a little vague), but I put my SIN number and the app went through just fine. Looks like people have done both without problems.

It's the same amount of digits and provides the same purpose as a SSN, so it made sense to me to put the SIN.

omg! I was starting to freak out since I put my SIN - feeling a little better - still waiting!
