Hi everybody,

we received or NOA2 on April 25th.

We started calling the nvc for our case # 2 weeks later without success. They finally received our case on May 12th. After that, every time we called the response was "we have received your case but it's not in the system yet. It takes up to 2 weeks"

Last Friday was the two week mark but when we called in the morning they said 'not yet but it will definitely be done until midnight'. Today we called again and the answer was 'we received your case but it's still not in the system'.

Im getting very frustrated here as I wanted to do my medical this week but I can't without the case number.

Is anyone having or has had the same issues with the nvc? Any idea what the reason for the delay might be?

This is only my guess so please don't take it for granted, but with the memorial day holiday maybe employees go for vacation the week before.  When I worked for the government (different entity), we used to take our vacations before/after federal holidays to have an extended time off work.  Still, to have your NAO2 on 4/25 and waiting over a month is a long time.  I would call them again, because it's not your fault if its due to the holiday.  I would call them twice a day if I was you to make sure it's done asap.  Good luck.

I am new to this, but I did hear some people get their medical done when they get their NVC case number, but is that really the right thing to do when the NVC process is taking about 10-11 weeks, then you have to wait for the embassy for the interview.  Some applicants waited 4-6 months for their interview date from the date their case was sent to the NVC

Keep in mind the K-1 visa is valid 6 months from either the medical or the interview, whichever comes first. Getting the medical done without knowing when the interview will actually occur might end up with a K-1 that expires sooner than you desire (or may be expired by the time the actual visa is issued, requiring a new medical).

Waiting times for the interview (wich has to be be after the medical) at the consulate Frankfurt usually aren't longer than 2 months. Some even as fast as 2 weeks, so I'm not to worried about that. From everything I've heard it's a quick process in Germany once the consulate received the documents.

The medical in Frankfurt is a walk in, so I don't have to schedule an appointment and i was hoping to get it done this week as I'm in Frankfurt visiting friends right now.

Even the person from the NVC my fiance talked to on the phone today agreed that it should be processed by now. But it seems out of the phone agents possibilities to do anything except of tell you what their computer says..

So we got through to a supervisor and the information we got might be interesting to other people on here too.

since may 12th they started  switching their system from people entering the data into the computer to an all computer system. We landed exactly in the stack of documents that are being transferred from one system to the other . We should receive our number by June 5th now.

We got our NOA 2 4/25 too but the NVC says they still haven't received our case at all. :( Do you think maybe we could be lost in a similar stack somewhere? It's so frustrating seeing people approved weeks after us getting Case numbers already.

Very frustrating. Mine approved in early May, and sent to NVC 3 days later. But NVC hasn't received mine either.I check others sent on the same date. They were almost all received 7 days later. So if one week elapsed, yet nvc still hasn't got our case, I think we should be wary.

I can never understand why it took so long to get a package.

And yet what can we do at this stage besides keep calling? It will be another week for us before they even admit it's unusual they havent received it yet and even then they just said 'at 6 weeks you can send an email'. An email Im sure they'd take 30 days to even look at.

Send nvc and uscis email now,why wait until 6 weeks. In the mean time, write an attorney letter to the supervisor, be proactive. Do sth, don't sit there. Ask other people to intervene.

I am calling multiple times a day. I am trying to get my partner to scan me our approval letter so I can email. He just moved states so he has to find the damn thing. I am reassembling our original package for just in case something hss happened. His politicians office didn't want to hear  about it because it's still technically within the timeframe. I am trying to find advice. I am hardly doing nothing but ultimately there is very little I can do if both uscis and nvc are blowing me off at this point because no one else is going to see a problem yet.

Definitely try to get to speak to supervisor. The people you usually speak to at the nvc have no clue. They can only type in your info and tell you what the computer responds. The supervisor we spoke to was like 'wait, nobody has told you we were switching systems?' After we called so many times...

So on Wednesday US time I sent a bunch of emails to both NVC and USCIS to ask where our case was and to complain about rude service. Didn't expect anything to come of it any time soon. I then phoned Thursday morning and was told that no, they still had not received our case (exactly what I was expecting but was trying to be optimistic).

BUT! Thursday afternoon we received an email from the NVC stating that our case had been approved for expedited processing and was already on it's way to the embassy!

'The U.S. Embassy in SYDNEY, ASTL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to this U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview. '

I immediately typed our new shiny case number into the tracker and yep, it already stated 'in transit'.

So apparently the NVC went from not having our case at all to already having it on the way to Australia within a few short hours. >_> I'm guessing they just had it lying around somewhere.

That's wonderful! Congrats and hope things go quickly for you now!

I hope we will get our case number by Monday now, as promised. Haven't given up hope to be able to move this July!

I have my fingers crossed for you! There is nothing worse than the feeling when things take longer than they are supposed to. :/ I'm not planning to move until almost October now because of work and financial stuff (my US fiancee is about to spend at least 2 weeks in hospital and it's really thrown things off balance.). I sincerely hope they keep their promise to you.

Wow, so after we called today (we were promised to get our number today) we got AGAIN the same response. No number assigned yet, we are still working on setting up the new system.

I got very frustrated and wrote them an email through the complaint form online, explaining how long we have been waiting and been promised to get a number and i asked them to expedite our case.

And WOW, after 2 Hours (!) we got an email:  'The U.S. Embass in FRANKFURT; GER approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to the U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview'

I am over the moon! My case number says it is in transit.

I wonder, if 'expidite processing' means they might even move our case faster once it got to the embassy or if it just means they prioritized our case at the NVC today. Either way, I am very relieved its finally moving forward. I didn't expect my email to work that well!
