Can you just leave the country after 90 days and re-enter the country again after a few weeks.

It seems cheaper and less hassle to just buy a plane ticket

This is a terrible idea.

The CBP officers will obviously see that she was just in the US but a few weeks ago. She could be refused re-entry right then and there at the border.

You probably wouldn't be allowed in - that looks pretty sketchy!

Are there not perhaps other family members (her husband's family) for example that could help out in addition? :)

Ok I see.

I was just wondering if there's another visa I can file for.

I'll use the WVP then :(

Thank you very much for your advices :)

I'm not sure of your situation on France, but you could try a student visa.

Work is not allowed with a student visa either

Part time work is allowed, but it has to be approved and associated with the student's field of study.

No no no no. This will cause problems.|

I went to visit my then-boyfriend in 2015 on ESTA in March and returned five weeks later. (Had the money and vacation days to use, so why not.. right? Boy was I wrong)  Needless to say I was brought to Secondary and held for a while. Luckily they let me through but it was a hassle, tears and sweating. And that's even considering countries like the Netherlands are low fraud.

Even if you'd apply and get a tourist visa no one can tell you 100% that you'll be permitted to stay 6 months. They could give you 2 months, 2 weeks, etc..whatever the officer in the airport decide. 6 months is the usual but doesn't mean everyone gets it. For example I only got 2 months stay.

I agree with others... a bird in a hand beats two in a bush.

You have to realize how fortunate you are being able to enter and stay for 90 days without going through a visa process. You can search the visitor visa section of the board for the word denied and you will see what we are talking about

Why do people say helping her sister with a baby is work? I don't get that. I have a Korean friend and her mum came over with a B1 to help her when she had the baby. She stayed like 4 months or more.

You can say you'd like the B1 because in case of any eventuality you need to be with her because the husband will not be available. What if the baby is born before the due date? What if she needs a C-section and she cannot drive? Anyway, I understand where you are coming from and why you'd like to be there.

Anyway, I know people are trying to be nice and give advice, but you don't loose anything by applying for the B1. Take information on your ties in your home country. If it gets refused, you'll have to stay under 90 days.

If you can, update us on how it went if you apply for B1.

Because we have seen many refused just for that reason as it's taking away a job from a citizen.  That's the rules

A refused b1 i believe makes her ineligible to use VWP.

Its not our opinion about it being work, its understood that way by visa rules as it could be done by an American nanny.

All the more OP is a young lady and not her mother - please read on this forum how many have been rejected for the same.  Hence the advice,
