Hello VJ'ers!! I have a question regarding interview in Turkey. Do you know engagement party gives harm to K1 visa process for Turkey? Can I show some pics of it? It is just a party in my parents' house, with both our families and well-dressed but not with traditional clothes, and with some food.

Removal of Conditions

02/06/2021: Filed and package sent

02/10/2021: Received by USCIS

03/18/2021: NOA 1

07/01/2021: Biometrics waived

09/27/2011: Case approved, no interview (K1 visa)

Service Center: WAC

If it is clearly an engagement party, that is fine and can actually help.  If, due to the clothes/ decoration etc it could look like a wedding, I wouldn;t show them.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Make sure you can verify that this was in fact just an engagement party and not some sort of ceremonial wedding.  From what I heard, an engagement party can be helpful for a K1 application in some cultures as it shows family acceptance of the engagement, however I will let someone with more knowledge of Turkey give more insight.

Thank you so much for the reply. Actually, while filling I-129F petition, we gave some of the photos from our engagement party, and there was no rejections, and got approved. But, I don't know Embassy process this like Uscis, so I need further information specific to Turkey.

02/06/2021: Filed and package sent

02/10/2021: Received by USCIS

03/18/2021: NOA 1

07/01/2021: Biometrics waived

09/27/2011: Case approved, no interview (K1 visa)

 seemed to think that an engagement party could be risky. So do it at your own risk, I suppose...

01/08/2019: Biometrics completed
 

Naturalization

07/29/2020: N-400 submitted online
