Hello all!  I just want to share with your our experience with Bumrungrad last weekend.  I booked an appointment for 27th of May, It's a Saturday because me and my husband(USB) will be coming from Phang Nga Province, that is like 12 hours via bus.  We started travelling Friday night. I was impressed by Bumrungrad facilities.  It truly is a hotel/hospital.  We arrived in Bangkok around 6am at Mochit Station...we took a taxi that charged us 400 and took us straight to the hospital (15 minutes roughly bec its very early, we took the highway and no traffic jam at all).  First step was to go to 10th floor for registration.  It was quick and it's good there's a starbucks in the same floor..we badly needed caffeine that time so my husband was sipping his hot caramel macchiato while I was filling up the registration form.  10 minutes after, they asked me to go to 15th floor Nurse station C.  They got the vital stats, eye checkup then waited again.  After around 20 minutes, I went to see the doctor for my medical history, it was quick too..like 5 minutes.  I received Tdap and influenza vaccine 1 month ago in Phuket because I don't have any vaccine record(Im from the Philippines) so I just relied on my readings here.  I decided not to take the mmr vaccine ahead of time because Im sure bumrungrad will give me the second dose.  I just asked the hospital here in Phuket to give me a medical record for those vaccines.  Bumrungrad recognized those vaccines and they only gave me the mmr.  My total bill was 7,200 baht.  They gave me feedback on all test except gonorrhea.  They asked me to come back 2 days after but I told them that my next trip to bangkok is the day before my interview which is June 6, they said its no problem so I;ll just pick up my medical resullt June 5 anytime between 7am - 4pm.  All in all...its a good experience.

Tips for BIH as of 2018 is
1. Book appointment on Thursday / Sunday morning period then you can pick up your result in the next day.
This is because of Lab processing.

I can confirm that this is still currently accurate (at least for Sunday Exams).   My fiancee just completed her medical exam at Bunrungrad Hospital today (Sunday in BKK) and was told she can pick up the results package tomorrow (Monday in BKK).

any advantage to BIH over Bumrungrad?   Considerable price differential, according to the medical instruction, and we typically always use Bumrungrad.

Last year the prices between the two hospitals were very close, Bangkok Nursing Home was about 400 baht more.   But this year the price at BNH jumped higher.   Last year I visited both facilities and the BNH looked like a 5 star hotel and a bit less busy.   But given the price jump this year, my fiancee and I chose Bumrungrad.  The service at Bumrungrad is also top notch and I have no problem recomending them.

Usual thanks for all your good information Joelthai.   Yeah, I guess as long as the exam from either facility is acceptable, why not save the 3000 baht, regardless of the difference between the facilities.  We will stick with Bumrungrad, for cost,......plus, they already have all of my fiancee' medical records.

It sounds like you are in good shape to attend Bumrungrad.

My fiancee picked her package from them yesterday.   Everything went very smoothly.   If all your vaccinations are in order, you should expect the same.    Since your fiancee´ is already a patient there, have her Registration number (Hospital Patient Number ) ready when you or she calls to make the appointment.    For those who are new patients, the operator will assign a Registration number during the phone call.

Scheduliing Tip:   I was easily able to make the appointment for my fiancee'.   When calling, after they answer wait for the prompt to speak to an "English" speaking operator.    They are very good and patient with the caller and English skills are very good.

The phone operator will instruct that she will need to bring with her to the hospital:

1) Passport,

2) four 1.5" x 2" photos,

3) vaccination records,

4) Embassy Interview appointment letter

She will also need to provide her Case number (BNK #) and Visa Type (K1 in our case), your home address in the US, her home address in Thailand, and a contact phone number and email address during registration.   Registration is on the 10th floor and after registration is complete they will send her to the 15th floor to visit with the doctor and receive the x-ray.   After receiving the x-ray, there is about a one hour wait to get a verbal confirmation of results.

Tip: This is a good time to get lunch if hungry!

If everything is ok, they will instruct you when you can return to pickup the package for delivery to the embassy.  Usually it is a one to two day wait.  Tip:  Appointments scheduled for Sunday or Thursday mornings should be able to receive the results package the following day between 2 - 4 PM.  They issued my Fiancee' an appointment slip for when she was to return to get hers.   The package is a sealed brown envelope.  (Do not open the envelope.   It needs to remain sealed when delivered to the Embassy during the interview).   They did provide a separated letter for my fiancee to keep for her records summarizing the results of the X-Ray and Physical health exam (i.e. stating no issues found)  and a summary of their review of the Vaccination history.

During the exam they took a blood draw and collected a urine specimen.   The doctor she visited with was female (the first one on the list of doctors listed on the Embassy Instructions).   My fiancee also stated they there was no visual inspection of "private parts".  I only mention that as I am aware that is a concern for some.
