You gotta remember (when reading DOS/DHS paperwork) that the forms are used for lots of visa types. Hence the questions that seem 'odd', such as marital status. They are only 'odd' for your situation and not the dozens of other visa types out there.

Regarding the two different Knightsbridge clinics - my understanding is that one of them examines children and the other does not.

Don't know about the 'sputum' thingee and hence I'm going to take the liberty of moving this thread to the Consulate forum in hopes we get an answer from somebody who doesn't tread the Region board.

If only one does children then that is *probably* the Knightsbridge branch as both my son and I had our medicals there.

Well, Chas got his medical booked today - its next Friday, 4/20 at 2:15 pm. :D He said its the one at Basil Mansions - that means nothing to me. I'm not worried about the 90 pound thing - doesn't sound like it will come into play at all anyway.

Also he said there are 2 facilities at which you can have the medical done - they tell you which one to go to when you book the appt. Is that new too? They're both called 'Knightsbridge'. Or maybe only one of them does the K visa types?
The Doctor's Practice is called "Knightsbridge Doctors". They have 2 facilities, one in Knightsbridge SW3 and one in Mayfair W1. I'm going to Basil Mansions, Basil Street, Knightsbridge, SW3. I was kinda hoping it was Fawlty Towers, Basil Street!!!
LOL i totally miss read that.... for a minute there I thought it said "examination of the #######" jajajaja.
Don't laugh too hard mate, because that is one of the items on the "what to expect" list, and I quote...

"It consists of a physical examination (eyes, ears, nose, throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia)....."

Cough please!!!

A sputum sample is obtained by coughing deeply and expelling the material that comes from the lungs into a sterile cup. The sample is taken to a labarotory and placed in a medium under conditions that allow the organisms to grow. A positive culture may identify disease-producing organisms that may help diagnose bronchitis, tuberculosis, a lung abscess, or pneumonia.

**If he has a bad cough due to smoking maybe this is an extra test incase of TB

Yeah Bobbie, I know what it is. The problem is the fact that it is listed on the price list as something that will be done, on top of the £170 medical fee. They price it at £90. Everything on that list after that is listed as supplemental. What we were worried about is if this is now going to be done anyway, making the total payable £260. People who have had the medical recently said that they didn't get the sputum test. I'm glad about that because it's making the medical very expensive if it is routinely done. I've posted the price list to clarify.
