Hello I would like to introduce myself, my name is emma and I am new to this.

I wondee if you could help? I met my BF back in Feb 2017 online a international dating website. We have spoken for so long now over the phone and shared many things about each other, I am in the usa on a vacation and we plan on meeting up somewhere along my holiday, and also going to his home town in August for 2 weeks which I cannot wait, we have both fallen in love with each other and I am loving every moment of this I believe I have found my true love we have such a connection and once we meet it will

be. Amazing. Anyway long story short! We have discussed marrying I am from the U.K. I am not sure which route to go down? k1, spouse visa? I also work for a usa airline and wonder if it's worth speaking with my company to see if they would transfer me to the usa and go from there?

any suggestions would be a great help to bring me closer to my love forever

thanks

Emma

Looks like you have a few paths, the fasted would likely be the intra compant transfer.  What position do you hold?  Speak to your HR.

as for IR1 vs K1 it's a personal choice.  Is speed more important or working more important?

Here is a basic breakdown of the differences between the K-1 and the CR-1. (Ignore the K-3, it's obsolete now.)

http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

It usually boils down to the question of how long you want to wait (K-1 is faster) and if you need work authorization right away or not (CR-1 means you can technically work from day one after port of entry). The job transfer sounds like it could also be an option for you, but then you'd obviously be tied to your job so you need to think about whether that is really what the two of you want.

Going through one of the visa routes depends on what you want. Do you want to be able to work asap after arriving in the US? Go for the spousal visa (CR-1 if married for less than two years) You will have a social security number, green card within several weeks after arriving. However, this path takes about a year.
K-1 route is faster but more expensive and you will have to adjust status after marrying and it will not allow you to work unless you receive your work employment authorization or green card.

10/13/2016: Filed AOS + EAD/AP.   07/07/2017: Permanent resident (Conditional)
04/16/2019: Filed ROC  11/17/2020: Approved. (10 yr GC)

If you've been talking a long time and you're already in the USA why didn't you meet him already?  You say you love him so much wouldn't the first thing be meeting him?

Anyway, like other users have said: figure out if you want to get married now, file for either a fiance visa or a marriage visa, and then wait and hopefully get approved.

Good luck!

I am a bit confused by the whole work situation.  You work for a US based airlines, but you work outside the US, so I am assuming maybe at an airport in the U.K.?  You can always try the work visa route, but that is difficult unless they have a specific need here in the US for your skills.  I guess if I were in your situation and the two of you decide this is the right match, I would take the CR1 route.  You can get married, continue working from your U.K. base, you will probably be able to visit fairly easily during the process, then when the CR1 is approved, you can look at a transfer to the US with your family based GC.  I can also see some advantages in the the K1 if your employer would be willing to give you a 90-120 day leave of absence while you wait for the EAD after a K1 marriage.  It really comes down to a personal decision between the two of you and how fast you want to be together physically as a married couple.

Good Luck!

If you have not met him, then how can you say that you want to marry him? Has he mentioned anything about marrying you? It sounds very suspicious when the beneficiary is the one asking for marriage.

You met through an international dating website in February 2017. That is only 3 months and you think that you know him well enough?

I don't know... I would try the work way first, if that's a serious option.

I don't know if your together history is enough for K-1.
Marriage intentions after 2 months online, never met in person... and even if you meet for one time before you send the petition...
I wouldn't be surprised about a denial for not enough proof of a bona fide relationship.

I don't know if your together history is enough for K-1. That really doesn't matter. The only requirement is proof of having met in the last two year when filing and a bonafide relationship proof. Lots of people have successfully obtained a K-1 visa with just one visit and a "short" relationship

I wouldn't be surprised about a denial for not enough proof of a bona fide relationship. No reason to deny if the relationship is real. People can feel the connection pretty fast and want to be together asap.
