I think Americans are more individualistic culturally and single payer HC is harder to accept for them than for Europeans

In a lot of other developed countries HC is considered a basic right: in France the right to health is written in the constitution for example.

I still have hope for the American people to eventually come around on this.  I think Americans are warming up to it more and more, especially among the younger generation.

Sadly enough, that's probably what it will take.  And, yes, it will fail.

I won't label Trump as disabled, mentally unstable, or whatever other similar adjectives used to describe him.  I see him as self-serving and egotistical, with a tendency of impulsiveness.

Either way, I will say that it should be quite clear to most by now that, whatever character qualities he has or doesn't have, his simply does not seem to  be the right makeup to have leading the most powerful nation in the world.  He may have certain qualities that got him successful in the corporate world, but those don't necessarily translate.

In fact, we probably need someone not heavily involved in the corporate world at this point, the way it has already overrun Washington.

I'd like to see someone who truly identifies, and deeply cares, about the common man in charge.

Me too.

circles, man!

ts eliot's poem still relevant today. (hollow men)

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,

Paralysed force, gesture without motion.

Funniest thing I read all day...Trump responsible for the student loan crisis

That is not what he said. Trump clearly has zero interest in assisting anyone who is not in the billionaire club and his response to the student loan crisis, like healthcare, the environment and everything else is screw you, get your own billion and we can talk.

Americans are more wary of government. I mean look at the US government in the last few decades, what about it would you trust?

Look at every healthcare bill that passes and gets proposed.. all gifts to the insurance industry. Since Americans don't have the relationship with government that other countries have, the more rational thing to do is gut the insurance industry and go back to direct negotiations with providers. Anyone who's had to negotiate with providers knows they're more reasonable when the insurance industry isn't involved.

Gosh, you guys need to stop taking everything so literally - again, the point was you should look to the root of the problem, not the person refusing to put a bandaid on it(who is not alone btw as it was only the last president who tried to).

At a time like this I feel George Will's words very pertinent ...

Political commentator George Will in his latest column blasts President Trump as someone who is not able to "think and speak clearly."

"It is urgent for Americans to think and speak clearly about President Trump’s inability to do either," Will wrote in The Washington Post.

"This seems to be not a mere disinclination but a disability. It is not merely the result of intellectual sloth but of an untrained mind bereft of information and married to stratospheric self-confidence."

miss George and Cokey battling it out!!!

That George is a good example of disorganized, emotional leftist thinking that is bereft of logic. He really should get out of his snuggle and quit crying about the election.

Also, random U.S. constitution question:

Your constitution guarantees the right to life, does that mean that someone sick with a life threatening disease (e.g cancer) could be entitled to free HC ?

Is your question does the constitution guarantee Healthcare? No. Does it prohibit congress from taxing everyone to ensure we have it? The supreme court said no. Is access to healthcare a fundamental human right? Most would say yes, I would say yes.

What is the definition of "access" ? Huge debate.

He certainly substantiated but it went straight up over your head.
There was no outrage, the only outrage is in your own posts against real debate.

But then again and again you can't run with the big dogs and lag behind babbling fluff.
You want a debate then debate.

What a well thought out logical fact filled retort.
