No packet 4 received, denied medial appt in Montreal, interview in 2 days...!

Hi all,

My Canadian fiance never received his Packet 4.  This is the second time he's reached the point of his medical appointment (missed it first time due to relationship issues) and he attended last week and found out he had to bring Packet 4 to the appointment.  He never received a packet 4, only the confirmation email.  He was denied at the medical (did not let him go through with it).  His interview is in Montreal this Wednesday (today is Monday).  However, the embassy has not responded to his email requesting Packet 4 (and he called last week and they said he had to email his request).  If he reschedules, this will be the third time and will likely put him out another 2 months or so (it seems to take about 60 days between scheduling date and actual appointment date).  He cannot get a hold of the Medisys to reschedule (they were too busy to reschedule him in person last week and said he had to do it online, but they still haven't confirmed a date/time and his appointment was last Thursday), and the embassy is not open until Wednesday morning (his appointment is Wednesday morning).

Can this nightmare improve, or are we doomed to start this whole thing over again?  He has no proof that he attempted to attend the medical since he didn't get a receipt for appearing there last week.  The embassy is closed until Wednesday, perhaps due to the American holiday.  Should he still attend the interview, or just reschedule everything all over again and hope that he gets Packet 4?  (This being the second time, the first time he didn't get Packet 4, either.....)

Thanks in advance..... you guys were a great help last time I reached out here :)

Update:  My fiancee just rescheduled his interview to June 14th, thankfully it was much sooner than we thought.  However, Medisys refuses to schedule him without the Packet 4.  How on earth was he able to schedule two medical appointments (one in January, one in May) without a Packet 4?

Well, at least his appointment is two weeks out instead of two months.  That helps.....

How did he schedule an interview without packet 4?  I thought after sending packet 3 they emailed you back packet 4 and from there you scheduled your interview?? I just got my NOA2 on the 19th and have to fly from the East coast for my medical when the time comes, so this is concerning I could get there and be denied.

That's the question.  .  .  it's happened twice!  Though now they're telling him they won't schedule him at Medisys until he's got his Packet 4 in hand.  This is nonsensical to us, and the embassy simply told him 'email us and we'll send you Packet 4.'  As if there's no timeline here. . . . !

Packet 4 for k1 is the email saying you can schedule the interview plus the courier proof from usvisa showing interview date.   It's different than packet 4 for cr1/ir1 where the interview date/time in on the email.

Check with a few other k1 for montreal  to confirm  but i believe this is how it works for k1.  check his junk mail.  Make sure montreal has his packet 3 or else they would have cancelled his interview anyhow.  Resend it if necessary.

Packet 4 is just an email though (and the email is what you show for the medical and interview).  Did you not get anything back after submitting packet 3??

He received the email message with the confirmation of the interview date, etc.  There was no attachment (no checklist, which is Packet 3).  He has already submitted his Packet 3.  He checked his junk mail, etc.  What's odd is that it wasn't sent with the first interview scheduling, either.  Just the same email confirming the interview date.  No attachments, and did not arrive by mail.  Not once, but twice.

My fiance and I just finished this process, as she had entered the US yesterday May 28th.  So the process is fresh in our head and as recent as it gets.

When your CEAC status shows ready and you have your MTL# from the NVC, you can download packet 3 online on the Canadian embassy website.  Which obviously, you already did.

Once you email the requested 3 documents from packet 3, you should have gotten a return email which is packet 4.  We had received our return email/packet 4 with-in 12 hours of mailing the initial packet 3.

In the return email/packet 4, this is where you will have info regarding scheduling your interview and medical.  Which ever email your fiance received information for scheduling his interview and medical, that is the packet 4.

You are to print this email/packet 4 and present this to the medical persons.  The packet 4 email sender email is: Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

Yeah packet 4 does NOT come with the interview scheduling. Packet 4 simply tells you that you now have premission to schedule a medical and an interview, but it does not give you any dates or anything.

Resend packet 3, make sure it went to the right address.

Packet 4 is just a really long e-mail that looks like this, granted some things have changed like the postal system, but I'm going to believe most of its the same. There are no attachments, it's just a letter email.

You are NOT allowed to schedule medical or interview UNTIL you have packet 4. Scheduling an interview or medical does NOT give you packet 4. The ONLY way to recieve packet 4 is for them to e-mail your fiance back after they have accepted his packet 3. We had to send packet 3 twice before we received packet 4. Some people have had to send packet 3 multiple times either due to processing error or Montreal hadn't actually processed their case yet. Much like the above poster   @KimchiLumpia  , my husband (fiance at the time) had his packet 4 within 7 hours of sending them packet 3 a second time.

Overall, ya'll need to stop scheduling anything until you have the actual packet 4 e-mail in hand.

Wait a second, aren't ya'll the ones where he decided he didn't want to have an interview?

Is his petition still valid? I know that the embassy told you that the petition was valid until Dec 31,2017, but petitions never last that long even when extended just once. Most people only get 3 months added on to their I-129F petition validity, not almost a whole year.

Is he SURE they still have the case?

If they no longer have his case in the system they will NOT email him back, no matter how many times packet 3 is sent to them.

Did he have a packet 4 email the FIRST time he tried doing all this 4 months ago, he already missed a medical and canceled the interview? Honestly at this point you may want him to join the site.

Note that he can schedule an interview and medical a million times and will always recieve confirmation, but if he doesn't have a packet 4 letter to back up any scheduled interviews, it's all for nothing.

First, ya'll need to make sure Montreal even still has the case. Second, he most likely is going to have to resend a completed packet 3 check list. ONLY until he recieves a response back from -that- e-mail can he schedule things. If he does not receive a response back, then he needs to contact them to find out why.

Note that my husbands Packet 4 email even included the packet 3 e-mail he had send at the bottom, packet 4 is simply a reply e-mail.

Also note that he can't attend the interview without packet 4. Just like the medical, they will ask to see the packet 4 e-mail. Again, that is your permission to schedule the appointment in the first place.

When he called them in January or February, they did tell him the I-129F petition was valid until Dec 31st.  He will call them again on Wednesday to make sure.  This is starting to get really scary.

I'd make sure that they have the case first, and then he needs to focus on re-emailing them his checked off packet 3. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

Once he confirms the case is still there, he needs to print out, check off, fill out and rescan that file above and e-mail it to the email provided on the checklist.

Until he gets a reply from them directly from that e-mail, he can't schedule or do anything.

I honestly think he needs to join this site, a lot is done on his end and it looks like neither of you have really done the research on how this part of the process is done and you're literally past 2 missed medicals and 2 missed/canceled interviews. From the sounds of it, had he gone to his first medical this same thing would have happened.

Link him to this page, so he can also understand what's going on.

Also note that you would need a new letter of intent. The letter of intent has to be signed and dated by you within 30 days of the interview. And depending on how old your financial proof is, you may need updated proof with 2016 returns since that is now what they are accepting.
