Hi,

I am a US citizen living in India for the past 8 years. I did my grad/post grad in India and worked for 2 years. Currently I am unemployed and studying in India. We are in the process of filling out the I-1864.

I will be working with my father in the USA as soon as I am done studying. My father will be sponsoring my husband and I hence making him the joint sponsor.

Questions on the form I-864:

Part 6: Sponsor Employment and Income

Q3. Do i need to mention my father's income ? (I am not counting him in my household size)

Q15. And if I do not need to fill the above will i mention $0 for my current household income for Q15.

Q18. I have filled returns in India but not in the USA ever as I was a minor there, do I need to mention the same in Q18

hi

each of you file a separate i864, you will file an i864 as the sponsor

your dad will fill out and sign his own i864 as your only joint sponsor

so on your i864 you will fill out the employment part and on his own i864, he will fill out his employment, everything is separate, you don't put anything of your dad's on your i864 and viceversa

As a US citizen, you need to file taxes even when working abroad; you probably won;t need to PAY any taxes, but you will need to fil wiht the IRS.  You can backfile for the last 3 years.
