Using a Co-Sponsor for a K1 Fiance Visa

Hi all, myself and my fiance are in the process of putting together the I-129F package and we have to use her parents as co-sponsors due to her income begin too low. Fortunately, they are more than happy to help and both earn a good living. My questions is, do they both need to fill in an I-134 or an I-864?

Fiancé visas in London require the I-134 from one sponsor. If you have an employment letter for one of the parents showing enough income and perhaps some recent pay slips, that will be enough for London to accept one  parent as your sponsor using the I-134.  The affidavit of support is not part of the I-129F petition packet. The I-134 will be taken to your interview in London.

For your adjustment of status after marriage, you will need an I-864 from your wife (even if she doesn't make enough) as well as an I-864 from one  parent who makes enough.

  1. You don't send the I-134 with the I-129F. It's only needed at the interview. The supporting evidences would be too old by the time of the interview anyway.
  2. They would use the I-134. But you really only need 1 "good" joint sponsor.
  3. At the time of AOS, if you're still using them, one could use the I-864 and the other could use an I-864A (assuming they are in the same household).

All of the above have given great answers. The only thing I would add is that if you truly do need both parents as sponsors (ie: one alone doesn't amount to the total income requirement), then yes, they would both be required to fill out the form.

If they're drawing from the same account / income pool anyway... just the one is fine.
