My USC fiance got his divorce in Massachusetts. Now we're trying to get a DIVORCE DECREE (as specified in I-129F instructions) to submit with the petition.

However, after our research, it seems that Massachusetts court only offers either

(1) a copy of a Certificate of Divorce Absolute or

(2) a certified copy of a Judgement of Divorce Nisi.

There is no such a thing called divorce decree in MA.

A thread here (see link at bottom) showed that a petitioner got a RFE because a photocopy of a Certificate of Divorce Absolute he sent was insufficient.

One VJ member was told by the court (via phone) that a certificate of divorce absolute and a divorce decree are actually different documents, but the other one got the answer that a certificate of divorce absolute is the only correct document in MA.

We are so confused right now and planning to call the court next week to figure it out.

But before that, we're wondering if anyone here has similar experience and can share some information?

Or anyone has any advices to handle this? Like writing statement on the back of certificate saying this is the only document provided by MA court, weill this work?....or it's better not overdo anything before USCIS asks for more.

If no suggestions, we might just get a certificate of divorce absolute and photocopy it (back and front) in color, then see if we're lucky enough not to get a RFE.......
