temporary vs permanent address (state id)

Hi everybody,

I'm a bit in a muddle with my addresses.

Basically, since I entered the US I only have got temporary addresses. First I volunteered at a place for two months for board and lodge, then I was invited to stay with a friend for a month and in five days I'm going to do another volunteering job again for two months.

The problem is I have applied for a state id in the state I'm currently in. I used my first volunteering address. Is that address now considered my permanent address. Should I inform USCIS about this address? Even though I'm currently at my friend's place and will be doing another temporary job (all of this in the same state).

Please help me! I don't know what to do.

P.S. The green card was sent to a trusted friend in a different state. I wanted to change that address, but for some reason the border officer said I can't. And I didn't double check that. Also I only heard about notifying USCIS about address changes two and a half months into my stay. (I'm now almost three months in the US)
