Social Security Number and Temporary Permit

I just got my ead card today in the mail. I cannot wait to get my driver's license now (yeah, I know I have to get my temps first). I had a few questions about the requirements to apply for social security number and for temporary permit for driving.

I read somewhere on dmv site (we are living in Ohio), stating that I would need to show the proof of my legal presence in the U.S., so what documents would you suggest me to carry along to prove that? Because I have k1 visa stamp on my Indian passport, which is obviously expired.

Please help! Thanks!

You can get your SSN anytime after landing in America. For driver's license, you will probably need your green card and passport. Some states require proof of address, so take a recent utility bill (phone, electric, etc.) that has your name on it. If you're missing anything, they will let you know. Getting a driver's license is easy. Also, if you are not good at reading English, you might be able to take the test in  your native language. Just ask. Good luck!

Agreed, and official mailings from USCIS to you new address will be helpful along with the passport, and EAD.  You should just need the passport and EAD to get the SSN.
