I posted it on the last page.  I realize it is based on actual confirmation by a known person instead of anonymous sources which is hard to fathom for the MDL.  Here it is again.  As the story opines, they did not think it was a crime or treason, or whatever when Obama did it, and it isn't one now if it is ever confirmed unlike the Obama back channel.

http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/05/27/obama-submarined-bush-back-channel-iran-new-kushner-theme-isnt-even/

The only real purpose of recalling this Obama gambit from 2008 is to highlight the hypocrisy of Democrats in 2017, bewailing the suggestion that Jared Kushner, a member of Trump’s transition team, wanted to open a back channel to Russian contacts in December 2016.

Why is that the only real purpose?  Largely because the two cases are different in important ways.  Partly because in neither case is there evidence of a prosecutable offense.  But if you want to argue for these back-channel-opening capers as prosecutable offenses, Obama’s was worse.  And that’s partly because there is credible evidence that it actually happened.

In mid-2008, the George W. Bush administration surprised “hawkish” critics by conducting talks with representatives of the Iranian regime, the first time such contacts had been made at a senior level.  The vehicle for this move was the on-again, off-again forum of “six-party (P5+1) talks” with Iran, anchored by the EU-3 and focused on deterrence of Iran’s nuclearization program.

The talks were in “on-again” mode at the time, with a serious expectation of substantive engagement with the Iranian regime.  It was for this reason, against the urging of Bush’s critics on the right, that U.S. Ambassador William J. Burns, deputy secretary of state and coming off a tour as the ambassador to Russia, was sent as the U.S. representative to the talks.  At that point, Burns was the highest-ranking U.S. official ever to attend such a negotiation.

After the watershed meeting in Switzerland in July 2008, then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told the media with some disgust that Iran wasn’t serious about negotiating.  The Iranian posture wasn’t just a lack of seriousness.  It was described at the time as an apparent change of heart.

It's so funny how both parties pull the same stunts and watching sycophants make a huge deal out of the other one doing it.

It's been clear since Trump was considered a serious candidate all the efforts against him, not to mention before his inauguration all the howling for impeachment based on Russian conspiracy theories lefties have all but abandoned now. No mea culpa in sight! :clock: Just move on to the next issue like nothing ever happened. :pop:

I don't see them giving it up anytime soon.  The biased media is upset they couldn't influence the election to their agenda, and upset they were essentially scooped by Wikileaks and James Comey, and the MDL is just upset in general that the Obama legacy will unravel showing that he was at best an average or below average president.  You can see it in all the special elections that have been held so far, and it will only get worse as we near next Summer and the upcoming 2018 election.

MSBNC ups the fake news ante and calls Kushner a Russian agent:

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle was taken aback on Monday when an analyst for the network insisted that President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is a Russian agent.

“You really think he wants to be a Russian agent? I mean that’s kind of a stretch,” Ruhle said during her exchange with Naveed Jamali, an MSNBC analyst who has written about his work as a former FBI double agent.

Jamali insisted that Kushner’s request, which was ultimately not implemented, leads to only one conclusion: “This man was either a Russian agent, either aspiring to be a Russian agent or was in fact a Russian agent.”

“You think Jared Kushner was a Russian agent?” Ruhle asked incredulously.

“Absolutely,” Jamali responded.

Hahaha!

Don't seem to remember Obama or any of the other presidents wanting to use Russian equipment at a Russian facility in order to avoid NSA surveillence.

plus Kushner ain't the president.

plus he approached the Russians during the transition period.

but the drudge report wants to plat this false equivalency so go figure.

anyways Kushner now has a double scoop of trouble...

When Obama did it it was the Iranians not the Russians, and he wasn't even the DNC candidate yet.  One other big difference is that in the case of Obama, the back channel was actually created, but in the case with Kushner (if all the conjecture is actually true), it was just talk.  So if you believe Kushner is some sort of fledgling Russian double agent, just look in your own closet.  Many on the Right thought the same thing about Valerie Jarrett, but of course the biased mainstream media didn't lend its false credibility to that story.

Nice try.

It's concerning to see how many here would gladly hand over our country to Putin, so long as they don't have to admit the so-called president is a disaster, the likes of whom we've never seen.

Since Gorge Washington.

Judging any President based on historical accounts can be dangerous.  Of course many people judge Abraham Lincoln a great president and by all accounts he was, but he was also the president that suspended habeas corpus.  Similarly, FDR and his detention of American citizens.  If a president today did something similar, he or she would be severely castigated by most intelligent people.  The point is that there is no perfect President in our history, and judging one after 100 plus days is a little disingenuous to those that have intelligence particularly when they are doing similar things that were done by the most recent president.

The problem for this country is that Trump is not apart of our history. The sooner this guy is down the road the sooner we can make progress.

I hate when you take that conciliatory tone.
