Jared Kushner now a focus in Russia investigation

Jared Kushner and Russia’s ambassador to Washington discussed the possibility of setting up a secret and secure communications channel between Trump’s transition team and the Kremlin, using Russian diplomatic facilities in an apparent move to shield their pre-inauguration discussions from monitoring, according to U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports.

Ambassador Sergei Kislyak reported to his superiors in Moscow that Kushner, then President-elect Trump’s son-in-law and confidant, made the proposal during a meeting on Dec. 1 or 2 at Trump Tower, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. officials. Kislyak said Kushner suggested using Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States for the communications.

Malcolm Nance: Kushner has to have his security clearance pulled right now. It crosses the line of the espionage act of 1917.

Former CIS director McLaughlin on Kushner: if an agency officer had done anything like this we'd be trying them for espionage.

If any agency person had done what Hillary had done with her server, they would also have been tried for espionage.  What is your point?  We still need to answer the question regarding the source of all this information, and how it was leaked to the press.

Who's doing the leaking? Never saw this breadth and depth of leaking under the Obama admin. Trump needs to get his house in order. Interfering with the UK investigation was an embarrassment.

Yep, I am sure all those leaking are Trump appointees.  I do agree he has to get is house in order, if I were the Trump Administration, I would plant a story like this and limit exposure to those that are well known and start axeing some bureaucrats.  I hope all these leakers have good lawyers, or at the very least have their resumes in order.

Normally, allegedly said Dershowitz, one identifies the statute(s) violated and THEN hauls in persons of interest.

In this instance, a person of interest (Kushner) is being hauled in, in hopes of finding a violation afterwards.

This is backwards, allegedly said Dershowitz.

That is one of the things I find hard to swallow over all of this.  So far, there has been no alleged crime outlined, but instead we get a lot of opinion and conjecture.  Like Art Laffer said, they are like 'squirrels on crack'.

Classic defense attorney move. My rebuttal to the defense attorney is "who is hauling"? There are just unanswered questions and Jareds attorney has confirmed  that he agreed to cooperate. The question is what is this secure back channel communication about? There could be a perfectly good explanation on how it was in the interest of the US.
