My wife had her interview last week. She was given a green paper and was asked to submit a document to the Embassy. On Tuesday, she mailed that document back to the Embassy, along with her passport, via UPS.

When I sent an email, the next day to check up on the matter, I only received a one sentence reply that said something like ..."a consular officer will be reviewing my wife's case, and that she would be informed of the result in 2-3 working days."

My opinion?

I think the way the email was sent, and also given the fact that a longer email was sent about 5 days prior, asking questions in relation to our case...................and was ignored and never replied to..........

I personally feel that the response I got yesterday was just a typical "form" answer, and that the person who responded, most likely did not even check into anything. That's because I had written in my email that UPS had shown the package was received by the Embassy on Tuesday. I just think that by my informing them of that in my email, the person who responded (who I could tell was not a consular officer, due to the response and grammar)......probably just gave me a general answer.......that they most likely just give to everyone. Just a quick , general response, to get rid of me. ;)

So, my question is............because I am highly suspect that my wife will get any kind of call, etc....letting us know of the result, and if/when they are sending the visa.........

Do Embassies in fact inform a person in our situation, PRIOR to mailing out a visa?

Or do we just have to wait until one day, without any notice, the visa will be in the mail. (hopefully)

Thanks.

My recommendation would be to call the embassy directly and give them your case number and have them look up the status in their system. When I had a question about my fiance's visa (after interview), that's what I did, and they put my mind to ease.

That's true. A person SHOULD be able to call. I would imagine it is much better.......

But at some embassies...........like Ankara..........that's easier said than done. For a few reasons.....

1) They only allow calls from 3:30am to 5:00am (eastern time in the USA).

2) By only allowing a 90 minute window for people to call ...(and they only accept calls from Mon-Thu)........that means that EVERYONE who wants to call, IS calling at that time. Believe me, I have tried..............and 2 days ago, I woke up at 3:30 am here in Florida, and called them right at 3:30. The phone rang several times, and all I got was a message that the phones are full and told to call back. They do NOT have a system where you can wait on hold. After 7 or so rings, you are disconnected. I tried and tried for 90 minutes straight! (you can imagine how my fingers felt after 90 mintes of repeated disconnections....followed by repeated dialing  )

Each time, the phone either rang for 7 or so times before disconnecting me, or other times I would just get a "busy" signal.

90 minutes of repeated dialing................couldn't get hold of ONE person.

3) The "American Citizen Services" at the embassy, which has longer hours, will NOT answer any "immigrant visa" related questions. They just tell you to call the other line.

In a world where things went as they should........I "would" be able to just call, speak to someone, and get an answer to my important questions, with no problem.

But this is our government we are talking about and dealing with. And to them, unlike the private sector, the word "customer service" doesn't really apply. Their methods of doing things are EXTREMELY arrogant and non-service oriented.

I mean ....if they WERE that helpful......do you think we'd all be here on VJ asking each "other" for help.................rather than them? ;)

Good Point MPGGPM

we wouldn't be here asking others for help

I do not think they know, nor do they really care at all, that this is so so so important to some people.

That is too bad. A sad thing it is. But I know each gets what they give.

So although not fair at all. We all recieve. I just hope for your sake, you recieve soon come.

I had the exact same thing with calling Poland, they only have a 2 hr window to make calls and everyone (and their mom's :P ) is trying to call at that time. I think it took me a couple days to get through. Good Luck
