Lol not sure that any forms from USCIS give alternate gender options though so I thought I'd keep it simple

 

I suppose people can comment if they feel that they weren't included in the options..

I don't know the demographics in VJ but overall more female LPRs than male LPRs. This is based on the official USCIS statistics, which are announced annually at https://www.dhs.gov/immigration-statistics/yearbook

 

Let's look at the 2015 numbers: I think Table 9 on Page 31 is a good one to use. It shows gender distribution for different types of LPRs. There is not a significant difference between males and females for different types of GCs except the immediate relatives of US citizens, where the female to male ratio is almost 1.5. This category includes spouses, children, and parents. I don't think there is a significant difference in children or parent's gender distributions, which leaves the spouses as the main source for this big difference. There are more wives than husbands, hence, it would be safe to say there are more male US citizens sponsoring wives for GCs.

That's what I was thinking. I know for my country that it is heavily titled towards USC petitioners and with Russian women. It's not unheard of, of course, just much rarer to have it be in my case where the USC female is the petitioner with a Russian man. Plus Russian men are just rarer in generally statistically, so that makes sense too.

 

But I have a hunch that women are generally better at organizing and researching things because it's boring and requires tons of patience  so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of active VJ'ers were women.  I've also noticed that a lot of immigration lawyers are women too.

Good hunches -- I also get the impression that there are more VJ sponsoring women than men but wasn't sure. I suppose it would be interesting to compare it against different countries as well.

   It seems   Asia  men sponsor women more, Africa  just the opposite,  South America I think the women sponsoring men only have a slight lead and Europe seems to have the most even balance ( although they are probably the worst for adjust from VWP or overstaying )   Middle East seems to be a lot like Africa.

That's true for us. I am the beneficiary but I am the one who did all the research, organised all the paperwork, keeps up with the immigration news and rules etc. 

Even though we probably won't go back to the UK for several years I keep up to date with all the immigration info for that direction too, so that I will be prepared for it. 

I'm always completely baffled by posts on here where people come on a K1 and suddenly find they can't work. Or get here and not realise they are going to have to remove conditions on their green card.

Indeed. On the other hand, as the USC, I can see how a lot of Americans just assume that immigration is this easy peasy process and that it's "easy" to move to the US because we're a nation of immigrants. Most Americans are so totally oblivious to the rules. My parents were shocked at how complicated the whole thing was. Nobody in my family had ever known anyone who immigrated to the US before (at least not within the last 20 years or so) so all of these rules and requirements were really surprising for them.
