Hi,

I am from the UK and me and my fiancé are currently awaiting our NOA2, we are finding it hard to be separated and want to get the process does as fast as possible. Once we receive our NOA2 and the case number from the NVC, I have all my paperwork ready, can I schedule my medial exam ASAP before I schedule the interview?

There may already be a post about this but I'm finding it difficult to find an answer about this,

Any information would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi! Fellow UK beneficiary, here. We got our NOA2 at the start of the month, and we got our NVC number exactly 2 weeks after.

I have my medical next Tuesday. You can call them as soon as you have your NVC number, but you must have written proof of your NVC number to hand over at the medical. This will be either a hardcopy that you receive in the post, or an email form from the NVC. You can request the email to be sent to you either by phoning NVC and asking for it, or you can try filling in the form here: https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php It's not instant, either way. But you should get what you need.

I was hoping to book mine for a couple of days after getting my NVC number, but the proof of number slowed me down. I spoke to the London medical centre directly to check they really need it, and unfortunately they do. Another thing you need (which isn't on the questionnaire's list of documents to bring) is a medical summary letter from your GP. Don't forget to sort that out, as it's an important one! Not a full history, just a summary of any serious illnesses, hospitalisations, ongoing treatment etc. You may have missed that requirement if you're going by the old list, as it's a fairly new addition,

You don't need to have scheduled your interview first - you can make the appointment the day you get the number, just give yourself time to get the proof of NVC number. Usually around 10 days from receiving the number over the phone, your case will reach London, and you can finally schedule your interview after filing your DS160. Make sure you leave at least 5 working days between medical and interview, as they need time to process your blood work.

I hope that helps! I definitely recommend checking this thread out for UK filers:

It's only 20 or so pages long, so it's not too much of a long read, but there's a lot of helpful info in there.

Good luck, and I hope you get your NOA2 soon.
