So can this be really detailed? like how i was feeling how our relationship built up and all that or does it just need to be simple? I would prefer to let them know that our relationship is real so i wrote it really detailed not sure if they would think thats fussy or-

Honestly it can be as detailed as you want it to be on an attachment sheet or a simple 2-3 lines. Whichever you prefer.

We put a couple of lines on the actual form saying that we met via a mutal friend while we both were residing in the same city.

Then, in our cover letter, we elaborated a bit more on the circumstances. Be concise but give context!

Interestingly, we sent one in that was very detailed and received an RFE asking for it again. We are positive that it was maybe a little bit "too detailed" and might have confused how we met and what dates we met and for what purposes.

What we then did was send in dates and a brief description, for example:

"We met for the first time in November 2013 through mutual friends. In August 2015 we traveled together to London England and stayed there for 2 weeks and started our relationship together. In December 2015 I flew to the United States and stayed with her and her family for another 3 months", and so forth.

After this, we got approval.

This happened to us too, and what a pain it was! I think you have to spell it out for them really clearly but don't do too much.

I actually think that that's fine.

My fiance only sent two paragraphs on one page and it was accepted just find by the USCIS.

If you want to see how it looks like, I can send it to you as a private message? But yeah, I don't think it has to be very long to get approved, and it might even be a problem if it's too lengthy.

Sorry to confuse the whole thing even more.

Mine was one line. Stating I me her at her sisters house and the year and month. And I received no RFE for it.

It looks like it depends on the person who reviews it. Go with your gut, but also take into consideration that nobody likes to review 3 pages of info.

Ours is 10 pages long! 😂😂😂😂😂 I hope it is not too much! We even screenshot some of our message! For example, we told them that we keep on giving hint to each other but neither of us brave enough to confess first! So, we attached few screenshot of our messages that related to that.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not working with USCIS/NVC and never work with them. All my comment based on my own experience and what I read.

The entire point of the letter is to show a "background" of how you met, and to establish a timeline of when you met within the last 2 years. Having met within the last 2 years is really the one major thing the USCIS looks for. At this point in time, the long details about your relationship aren't really necessary...

As to the format... We did it as follows:

I, <petitioner name> met <beneficiary> on Month, Year. We first met in person at <location> on Month, Year while attending a convention.... and so forth.

We didn't include the formal address, page header, etc...

Ours was about 3 brief paragraphs by the time we were done.
