Hello everyone,

I originally try to set up the best plan for my mom to visit the united states but kinda not sure if what I plan will work out. Right now, my daughter is in my original country (a minor with double citizenship/passport). Currently, my mom is in the process of applying tourist visa. I was just wondering if she can go with my daughter to enter the united states. I know the fact that if you are a tourist visa holder you need to go to different section; not in the same area with US citizen or permanent resident. The thing is, my daughter is a US citizen. So, in resume my questions are:

1. can my mom and my daughter fly together and go to the same section?

2. If yes, does my mom need an affidavit letter or any kind of letter from me and my husband for custom and border protection purposes?

Thank you and have a nice day!

1.  Your mom and daughter can fly together and go through immigration together at the airport.  I've done this.  Not a problem.  CBP will direct them where to go.

2.  The airlines will want a written notarized letter from you and the other parent to give permission for your mom to take your child out of the country.  (Most airlines don't want it to be easy for non-parents to take children out of a country - think kidnapping in divorce cases.)
