Hi there,

i am briging my mother to the US from Cuba. As I am not making enough money, my husband asked one of his friend to be the sponsor. He filled the i864 along with all the necessary documentions and it was eventually approved by the NVC who scheduled an interview at the embassy in Havana. Now the problem is that for some reason the process took longer than expected, NVC before scheduling the appointment asked me some documents I had already submmitted delaying the process for few more months. It took more than one year and even though the sponsor documents were approved by NVC I do not have his current 1040 and W2 of this year. Knowing that the deadline to fill taxes was mid april. Will the embassy reject the petition because I could not bring the 1040 and W2 of this year or everything will go smoothly as all the documentation was already approved by NVC? Last thing, I doubt the sponsor will give me his new 1040 and W2 (he filed his taxes in april 2017) for some reason. Any advice?

My husband and him had an argument last month. i doubt he will give him his new W2 and 1040. Then again the last day to file taxes was April 18 and my mother interview is scheduled on may 31. Is there a chance they do not ask for the W2 and 1040 of this year and agree to stick to what was already submitted to NVC and got their approval. The issue is not that those documents are not available, the issue is that the joint sponsor will not provide his new 1040 and w2.
