I am the beneficiary and my fiancé filed the petition to sponsor. We were recently approved and the next step is the interview but I'm having trouble figuring out an answer to my question. In 2012 I was dating somebody who was fairly abusive. It was my same-sex (female) partner at the time and one night she wouldn't stop hitting me.  I tried to get away from her several times and in my last attempt at getting away from her I grabbed the closest object I could find in an attempt to help her get off of me. It was a candleholder on the table and I threw it at her to get her to stop hitting me and it hit her in the side of the head. I panicked and called an ambulance as we were both hurt and I wanted someone to intervene as I was clearly frightened she wouldn't stop. The cops showed up with the ambulance and because she had a physical injury I was  immediately charged with assault with a weapn - no questions asked. The bumps and bruises on me made no difference. The charges were later withdrawn because there was nothing to stand on but I understand at the interview they will ask if I have ever been charged. There was no conviction and I do not have a criminal record.  I have a letter from the RCMP stating I have no criminal record as well. Does anybody have a similar situation they could share the outcome of their interview? I am obviously worried this is grounds for  in admissibility and my visa to enter the US to be married will be denied.
