Interview stage, What are the reasons to be denied?

My fiance and I are both happy this is about to end but I'm worried that after all this time we get denied at the embassy.  

 

Anyone know what would be the reasons to get denied on the interview? 

 

For example, I'm worried that I sent the DS-160 when I was still working and now I'm unemployed waiting with my family for the interview.  Would they consider that the info I submitted It's wrong and that I lied? (Since the info in the DS-160 won't match my current situation)

 

Am I just being paranoid? 

 

But I'd really want to know what would be a reason to get denied or put under administrative procedure? 

 

Any advice might help. Thanks!

The employment situation of the beneficiary doesn't really play any role into it. Jobs change all the time and stuff, they only care mainly about the petitioners since they are the ones showing the financial support with the I-134 and documents.

 

Other reasons for denial, just search here on VJ with the search bar about "K-1 Denied" and you'll find countless threads and a lot are for different reasons. They can range from "lack of evidence, CO didn't believe relationship was legit, relationship didn't fit typical cultural norms.." some of these can be just "generic statements" given to deny and then come back to possibly being because of lack of face time, age differences, lack of family support... 

 

Each country is unique in their own aspects as to how each case is viewed. As for you I would just relax and don't stress over some of the horror stories and just go in prepared to your interview.

There's way too many reasons for a denial to list all of them here. The vast majority of them are pretty blatant and you would know if they were an issue (trafficking, terrorism, etc.), Some of the most common causes for a refusal are below:

• 221g: Additional documents/evidence required (you will be asked to submit it after the interview)
• Public charge concern (I-134 is incomplete or insufficient)
• Current bar in place (i.e. from an overstay, deportation, past drug use, etc.)
• Drug use
• Insufficient evidence of a bona fide relationship
• Missing/Inadequate/expired medical results or police certificates
• Certain criminal records

No, you didn't lie on the DS-160. Your answer was accurate as of the time it was submitted, which is exactly what somebody should do.

 

Every case goes through AP. Most take days, some take weeks, and a few take even longer. You're over-worrying about it!

Thank you for your kind answers.  Yeah I tend to over worry. I need to get done with this ASAP.

 

The whole process has made my anxiety levels skyrocket. And I can't keep thinking something will go wrong at some point.

Try to relax.  I know it's not very uplifting to hear, but you have a long way to go in terms of time and paperwork before you'll be "done" with this.  It's natural to worry that something will go wrong, but have faith that things will work out the way they are meant to.  Hang in there.
