I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that has a S/O or family on Mindanao.  Does anyone know if this will interrupt or restrict cell service, internet access, or travel?

I love the people I met while I was there, and I am praying for peace and safety for everyone on the island.

Hard to say. Travel may be a little more restricted but shouldn't be totally shut down.

Services is the harder one to know about. In general probably shouldn't; but if things escalate it could have negative affects on some of them I suppose.

It's in affect for up to 60 days, but possibly will end sooner than that.

Marawi is currently without electricity, that will most likely affect internet and cell service there, but the rest of the Island should be fine.

There are a number of us on here who have family from Mindanao so you will be on the know. I don't think it will restrict anything but from what I gather they took away the writ of habeas corpus and can jail anyone at all for anything. That is about it what I gather as of right now.

Where in Mindanao is your asawa's family? My asawa is from Compostela Valley, but has immediate family through out the Davao Region, CDO, and Agusan Del Sur.

It might change once it rolls around to business hours there, but CebuPacific and PAL are both booking flights online for Mindanao destinations.

Nah it won't affect that at all. What's funny is that they have picked up and added more flights to Davao once Duterte took office.
