Hello Everyone,

I'm preparing I-129F (04/10/17) for my alien fiancee. Regarding Question 54 describe in-person meeting during past 2 years, we're wondering how much we should elaborate since our situation seems a bit abnormal. Below I'll explain our relationship. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We started dating while my alien fiancee studied abroad in the USA. After she moved back to her country, we were in a long distance relationship for 2 years. Yet, because of our work issues (no enough vacation time allowed), we didn't get to meet in person during that 2 years. ----------> This is the abnormal part we referred.

We both know that getting married would be the best way to bind us together. No more long distance. After quitting her job earlier this year, my fiancee visited me in the USA (Currently she's still here. This is the first time we met in person since I said goodbye to her at airport about 2 years ago.) And actually an intention of her this trip is to see if living together like a married life would work for us. (We will spend about 90 days together.). I proposed to her a couple of weeks ago, and then we decided to get married in the foreseeable future. So, the first step is to file a fiancée visa petition, allowing her to enter the USA again by using a K1 vIsa.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, our question is which following approach we should take to answer Question 54 of I-129F?

(1) Our situation is not that abnormal. So simply state and prove we did meet in person right before the petition. (I am planning to file it in June.)

(2) USCIS may question why we didn't meet during 2-year long distance. So better also detail how we relationship has developed.

Thanks for your helps!

You're over thinking it. The example you used honestly is fine. A lot of people literally put "We met in (place or country) on (insert date) and spent 1-2 weeks together)..

USCIS has seen odder cases don't worry. You have a fairly "normal" case.

A lot of people on here have spent 1-2 years apart without seeing eachother in person.

I would just use the example you gave, maybe use some dates for reference to a time line, and there you go.

I agree, it doesnt sound so crazy! in the letter of intend you can explain a little further>> after meeting while your loved one while she studied in the US you guys managed to stay in a long distance relationship for two years (wich is hard!). Now you decided to get married and stay together.

The only important thing is that you guys have seen each other in person during the last two years, which you are doing right now!

Since you have the opportunity right now, for the proof of relationship in the petition, inculde pictures of you guys with your family and friends, they like to see that!
