Hi VJers

Please giving me some advice! After 3 week waiting for my petition to get to NVC, today I finally get the case number from NVC but sadly they assigned to wrong Embassy (MNL). I assited NVC rep to change to appropriate Consulate (HCM) but NVC Rep adviced me to send to askNVC and email to change the embassy. I already did but so far no reply.

Has everyone had the same issue?? Can NVC fix the error because apparently the petition is still at NVC

Thank you!!

It's possible if the error is on their side (i.e. if the NOA2 form USCIS has the right embassy listed). However, I put in 18 calls with NVC (2 with supervisors), 2 emails, an askNVC request, and my fiancee called the embassy a few times as well to change the embassy while the petition was still at NVC. The emails and askNVC options got replies several weeks after the petition left NVC.

We ended up having to do an embassy transfer after it arrived in Riyadh.

Hi Geo. Thank you for your reply. So from my understanding, you tried to change the Embassy but didn't sucees?? And you had to do Embassy transfer from Riyadh to Philippines. Am I correct? What step should I do after the petition arrive to Manila Embassy and how long does it usually take to get to right Embassy? :(

Hello. Correct. That's what I had to do. The NOA2 had Riyadh listed, and NVC was unable to change it without an email or askNVC request (which wasn't processed until weeks after they sent out the I-129F to Riyadh). If your NOA2 has the correct embassy listed, you may have better luck with NVC fixing it prior to sending it out.

Once the petition arrives at the wrong embassy, the process to request an embassy transfer is to contact the embassy where you want to interview and ask them to do the transfer. So in your case, you would contact HCM and explain that you want an embassy transfer from Manila. I don't know how HCM prefers to be contacted (phone or email), but if it's via email, what we sent is below. The longest part was getting them to recognize the request...the first 2 attempts got back a blank response. =__= The third attempt got a real response that they were escalating the request. A couple days later they made and approved the request for the transfer from Riyadh. Then about a week or so later Manila received the case and we could proceed as normal. YMMV. I'll note that the case number will not change after the transfer...ours is still RIDXXXXXX instead of MNLXXXXXX.

How long did it take to go to the incorrect embassy then on to Riyah. We're in a similar situation. :(

It was sent to Riyadh then transferred to Manila in my case. Once they acknowledged the request, it took a couple days to get it approved then about a week to arrive in Manila. Getting them to acknowledge the request was the stressful part - it took 3 emails to the Manila embassy before we got an actual response acknowledging the request. After that, it was just a little bit of waiting.

Thank you, Geowrian. For clarity, did you email the correct embassy to request to receive the file or the mistaken embassy to ask them to forward it on. So far, we've only email NVC because the status says it's still there. They sent it to his home country instead of Abu Dhabi. :(

I checked with both. The request needs to be sent to the embassy that you want the case transferred to. In my case, I contacted Manila to have them send the case to Manila.
