How long should we be dating to get approval

Hi there! First of all I want to wish everybody luck here.

Does anybody know for how long should people be dating to get approval? We sent our petition in 5 months after we met. It seems a short period but I can't imagine to be waiting more cause we understood that we wanted to be together after first date in person. We met twice before aplying and next week it will be our fifth date.

Depending on the CO you meet and where the embassy is located, you could have a hard time with the interview. I don't think you'll have a hard time with the petition itself though. Hopefully you and your beneficiary can prove to the CO that will be interviewing you that you have a real relationship. It's extra hard if the country you're applying from is a high-fraud/risk one.

Five months is not a terribly short time, and there are no hard and fast rules for length of engagement/dating to get approval.  As Horus stated, the country of your fiancé plays a role, but I do not thing the Ukraine is considered an especially high fraud country.  The one big thing in your favor is multiple face time visits with each other.  This usually looks good to consular officers during the interview, and in my opinion it will also look good if you can be there for the interview itself.

Good Luck!

As for attending your Fiance(e)'s interview - it's all up to you, but really is not necessary. Kyiv is not a "tough" Embassy, so as long as you have enough of proof of your ongoing relationship, you should be fine .

Good luck!! :)

I agree with Ksenia_o. You will be fine. Be sure to bring evidence that shows you have been physically together, like airline boarding passes, passport stamps showing entry, receipts, etc. Elena and I also met several times, she even came to the United states to visit me. The more you see each other the better.

My fiancé and I had been dating for seven months when we applied.  We had visited each other four times and had spent most of the summer together, since I am a teacher and had vacation time.  We had no difficulty at all.
