I had my AOS interview last week and was approved in less than 5 hours after leaving the consulate. I took in a certified copy of my marriage license (paid $15) and the officer interviewing simply looked at it and said that was fine (we only submitted a photocopy in the initial aos package so she just wanted to check it was legit). We didn't take in another i864, we just took my husbands 2016 tax return as we only submitted the returns for 13,14, and 15 previously. I also took a letter from my employer as I have just recently started working. Good luck!

So the latest tax year you provided was 2015 then, I would definitely bring a new i-864 where 2016 is added too, and then the tax return transcript for 2016 as well. Just in case.

We also filed in one tax year and had an interview after the next tax filing.  I only brought copies of the updated tax information (not a completely new I864), and the IO was fine with that.  However, in hindsight, I probably would do a new I864.

Good Luck!

Hello I have a question please help me, do I need to pass my original certified copy of marriage certificate in applying for Adjustment of Status? Thank you all :)

just to make a little sense here.  In Alabama...the original marriage certificate stays in the  courthouse. What you need to send is a certified copy of your marriage certificate for AOS. We just happen to do this.

8/7/2017                    NOA-1

3/1/2018                    NOA-2

3/15/2018                  NVC case received

3/22/2018                  NVC case assigned

3/23/2018                  Consulate ready

4/11/2018                  Medical

4/17/2018                  Visa Approved

4/24/2018                  Visa on hand

6/27/2018                  Biometrics for AOS/EAD

7/7/2018                    ready to be scheduled for interview

7/11/2018                  We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (email from USCIS)

8/22/2018                  We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (same email again)

9/5/2018                     We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is getting boring!!!)

10/3/2018                  We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is insanity, 4th time while some got GC)

10/17/2018                After 136 days of wait in HELL, finally EAD in production

10/21/2018                Card was mailed to me, and yes it said so on a Sunday night, while Vj-ing

10/22/2018                Card was picked up by the USPS

10/24/2018                EAD in hand. F%^&& finally

No, you send a regular photo copy of the certified copy. You can obviously send the certified copy if you want to but that's just a waste of money. Here in CA one certified copy is $15, no way I'd send that when all they ask for is a photocopy.

We got several certified copies for about $2 each. Nobody has asked to see them still, but we probably make use of them

I just had my interview 2 days ago and I took everything on the appointment letter and all she asked for was the original birth and marriage certificates and proof of our relationship. I submitted the i-864 in my original packet for myself as well as my cosponsor and she didn't ask to see anything updated. She only asked if all the information was the same and I told her yes. She didn't even need to see updated paystubs or employment letters or anything. I'd say take updated financial proof just in case (paystubs, letter, any new w2's/taxes) but they probably won't ask for it.

Please help thanks all

I have a question cause I'm worried this coming July 12, 2018 my visa will expired but we're already sent the adjustment of status pocket then last June 16 they reply via email that they have received all the pocket already.

My question is, what if it's already passed July 12 then never had biometrics and interview yet, is it possible that I'm going to be deported back to the Philippines?

Hope for your response. Thanks all. :)

Since you're in the US, the expiry date of your visa doesn't matter. That was only the date of when you had to enter the US by.  You're in status since you said you've already filed to adjust your status.

AOS is taking on average 12-16 months to process right now, so it''d be impossible to have it completed by July 12. You most likely won't have the interview for a couple months, at the very least. Some couples wait months or even years to file for AOS after they arrive to the US and marry and don't have any issues. So you don't have anything to worry about. You won't get sent back to the Philippines. :)
