Hello everyone. I'm looking for some help or info in regards to my situation. First some background. I was born in Brazil and adopted by US citizens in 1987 and brought to the US. In 2002 I got into legal trouble and had a detainer filed against by the then INS. The INS agent informed me that for some reason my file for citizenship that my father had filed on my behalf as his child, was not complete. He said the N900 form was missing or some form of that nature. Anyway he claimed that this meant I was not a US citizen and I was now facing deportation. Fortunately the Consulate in Brazil refused to sign off on the removal paperwork and I was never deported. Fast forward to 2013 when I find out from my father that he remembers filing the completed paperwork. He can't find the copies so we hire an attorney to file a FOIA request to USCIS for all of my immgration records. The attorney received 400 pages of paperwork on a CD with a letter stating that USCIS had found potentially matching documents in regards to the missing citizenship files...but they had sent it to the head of National Record Keeping in DC for further review!!! My father and I never heard back from NRC or USCIS and they say my FOIA has been completed. The attorney dropped off the face of the planet and has not answered my emails nor ever let me know if she ever received the files from NRC or USCIS. What do I do now? Thank you.

Find your attorney, contact the bar association to track him down  or have another attorney start over.
