In terms of financials, it depends somewhat on what he does... ie could he get a job offer or has a sought- after education/ job experience that wil make it easy to find a job in the USA?

They will need to show proof of vaccinations or have them done at the medical.

The poverty guidelines are used as a guide for savings, so they'd need the amount for a family of 4, around $25k https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines,  but as penguin says if he is decently educated/ good experience it makes it easier. What the CO will be looking for is any evidence that the family won't become a public charge.

He should be sure to read all the links from his selection letter as they detail properly what he and the family need to present at interview. One of those things is a medical exam done by an approved "panel doctor". The medical examiner will ensure they have all vaccinations - whoever it is will be used to the Iranian records if he is interviewing in one of the usual locations for Iran - and will provide a "vaccination worksheet" for each family member that US authorities will understand. The family will get a copy of these to keep for themselves. It is particularly important that they keep the children's ones for school.

One thing to be be aware of is that for security reasons/lack of cooperation between Iran and US, background checks on Iranians often take longer than other nationalities so they may be placed on "administrative processing" for some time after the interview. If this happens it will be 'normal' for Iranian applicants and no reason to panic/stress.

Greetings to Penguin and Susie for your kind reply and information. Some embassies require financial proof during the interview .My friend wanted to know how much money in his account he should present in the embassy as financial proof. I will ask him to have at least $25,000 in his bank statement. :)

Complete vaccination record is a requirement in all schools in Iran so I guess there will be no problem here.

Thank you very much again ladies. Have a nice day.

FYI: It may not be the same vaccinations required so they should be prepared that they may need to do more at the medical, the US does have some that are not mandatory in all other countries. I don't know details of what Iran has as mandatory. Good luck to your friend!
