Attention all VJ'ers!  We  are hoping you can lend your experience to help us update the Guide section (http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides/).  In general we'd like to scrub all sections.  If interested please volunteer here or simply start reading the guides and posting suggested corrections to this topic!

 

As an example the IR-1 guide may need a few details updated (addition of requirement for 130A, etc.):  http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

The guides should definitely be updated because VJ'ers link to them all the time. Also shouldn't there be new example forms as well?

29-Mar-2017: CR-1 Visa received (via mail)

02-Apr-2017: USCIS Immigrant (GC) Fee paid

28-Jun-2017: Port of Entry @ PDX 🛩️

21-Jul-2017: No SSN after three weeks; applied in person at the SSA

22-Jul-2017: GC arrived in the mail 📬

10-Feb-2021: Contacted senator's office for help with USCIS

12-Feb-2021: Received canned response from senator's office that case is within processing time 😡

16-Feb-2021: Contacted other senator's office for help with USCIS - still no biometrics

19-Feb-2021: Biometrics reuse notice - canned response from other senator's office 🌐

23-Feb-2021: Interview scheduled - notice to come in the mail

25-Feb-2021: Biometrics reuse notice arrives via mail

01-Mar-2021: Interview notice letter arrives via mail  ✉️ 

29-Mar-2021: Passed interview at local office! Oath Ceremony to be scheduled

13-Apr-2021: Oath Ceremony notice was mailed

04-May-2021: Oath Ceremony scheduled 🎆 Unable to attend due to illness

04-May-2021: Mailed request to reschedule Oath to local office

05-May-2021: "You did not attend your Oath Ceremony" - notice to come in the mail

06-May-2021: Oath Ceremony will be scheduled, date TBA

12-May-2021: Oath Ceremony re-scheduled for June 3rd, then de-scheduled same day 😡 

25-May-2021: New Oath Ceremony notice was mailed

16-Jun-2021: Oath Ceremony scheduled 🎆 - DONE!!

I wish I could do it. I really do. Because I have an idea to add more visual content to the guides. Maybe I will find time to draft some of the ideas onto storyboard. If I do find the time, I will definitely share.

@Captain Ewok Whilst the guides are still not updated at the moment, perhaps you or the other mods can at least remove the G-325A form and related info from each guide page? Some people are still under the impression that it is needed and try to complete one (based on what they ask in the forum anyways) :jest:

 

Additionally, maybe upload blank new forms under the 'forms needed to file for a [visa type]' sections OR put a bolded note in red stating that the forms have been updated recently by USCIS therefore to download them from https://www.uscis.gov/forms. But of course, a note should also be in place on the completed sample forms page that those are outdated until new samples are made available.

 

Sorry if my suggestions are silly but a lot of people have missed the whole "You should always verify the current forms at www.uscis.gov" that is already there.

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.
