I am the petitioner for my wife. I will fill out a i-864 myself as sponsor. i am on disability and do not make enough to cover the responsibilities. So my mother is going to be my joint sponsor. we live in the same house, but im not claimed on her taxes or anything. she makes more then enough on her own to cover the requirements for sponsoring, so would she fill out an i-864 herself or does she need to fill out an i-864a?

hi

she would file the i864A to combine income. she will need to prove a couple of things. that she is a USC or LPR, that she lives in the same house, and that she is related to you. she can prove that with any correspondence  and copy of your birth certificate

for part 5, the sponsors household size, my mother is my co-sponsor and filled out i-864a, so i count me, my wife, my mom, and would i include my dad to as an other dependent since he is on my moms taxes to or would it just be 3? I assume he is part of the household size to? and on part 6 or 7, where would i put or show  that i am disabled and on SSDI? or do i just mark unemployed and include forms showing that i am on SSDI and the amount i make?  Thank You

That's the opposite of what I would have recommended.  I think your mother should file an I-864.

I agree with this...I've been researching this & find that you would both fill out the I-864. If your mom files her taxes jointly with someone, then that person would use the I-864a.

The household would be 3 - *On your parents i-864, i-864A. ( I assume they filed taxes jointly, I assume you are petitioning for your wife?)... the 3 household would be your wife, your mom and your dad.

and On your I-864 ( I assume you have no kids).. would be just 2, you two.

The other issues, someone else will need to advise.

thank you for the help everyone, I wish they made it easier to understand, and calling NVC provided no help. i thought we would both do the i-864, but my wife in some groups shes in all say for my mom to do the i-864a, i had my mom fill out both till i decide which one to do. if i do just go with my mom doing an i-864, would my dad have to do an i-864a then? even though he is not involved in actually sponsoring her, just my mom is, or would i need them both to, since they file taxes jointly?

Yes since your parents file their taxes jointly, it is recommended that the secondary spouse file an I-864a or else you have to send more paperwork proving the income your mom makes alone.  It's up to you what you decide to do, but I truly believe, especially since you are not a dependent on your parent's tax return, that your mom and you should file separate I-864.
