The issue I have is when the info does not pan out no one is held accountable, and retractions are buried or as you said, it fizzles.  But the damage is done.  If we had a little more ethics in journalism, maybe we wouldn't seen this so much.

I agree, there aren't any true journalists anymore. No one cares about how factual the story is, they only care about being the first to get the story out.

The reasonable doubt seems to me like a good reason to have an investigation...

In general outside influence on politicians and elections is something to be avoided and should be investigated if there is evidence. Outside influence from Countries that tend to allign with our values and beliefs (GB/Canada), as well have being close allies for decades is less worrisome, in my opinion, than outside influence from a country like Russia. You can't ignore the decade long history of conflict between our two countries. Our relationship with Russia is still somewhat tenuous.

Israel is a whole different discussion.

The US interferes in foreign elections from the outside all the time.  If you look at the history, the US probably has one of the worst track records of keeping their current leadership political views out of a foreign election.

I think Israel should investigate that claim. If the US secretly interfered in their elections they have a right to know why, as do we.

They don't have to because the leadership is happy with the results.  Here, we seem to listen to the minority party which is not happy with the results.

It may be true, yet somehow, I don't get any satisfaction from the Kremlin meddling in our elections.

So, you're OK with the Russians interfering in our elections because they helped your candidate? Would you be that commie-friendly if it turned out Putin had interfered to secure Hillary's victory?

Perhaps it is a little selfish but since we are in the US I would say it is reasonable for us to not want foreign influence in our political process. Those other countries can investigate our influence and try to kick us out if they want. Some may prefer our influence. I'm pretty sure very few people in the US (even Trump supporters) would prefer Russian influence. Most people who think the Russian investigation is silly, at least from my vantage point, tend to just think it isn't true. If it was true, I'd like to think you and others would care.

it appears there are a solid bunch of trump supporters who were quite susceptible to the beauty and allure of a strapping middle aged russian leader riding a grizzly and beefing with obama...
