Income requirements

I am working on the I-864 for my husband I'm about to marry on a K1 fiancé visa. The form asks for income from tax returns for the last 3 years. My 2016 returns were well above the 125% poverty line, and I'm about to take a job with a salary even higher (not listed on tax returns yet, obviously, but my employer will write a letter stating my position and salary). My 2014 and 15 returns were below the poverty line as I was a student. Will these lower years cause my app to be rejected, or will I be accepted due to my higher 2016 and 17 income? I have some assets I plan to list in the extra boxes, too.

With the previous year filing being above the requirement you will be fine. Especially if you can add the letter from new employer stating higher earnings. you shouldn't worry about the older tax transcripts having any affect.

Oh good. Someone in a Facebook group tried telling me I needed a cosponsor and I didn't think that would be the case.

 

I am trying to decide what to put in the box that says "current annual income." I am a teacher in between jobs, so I am not sure if I put 2/3 of my outgoing salary + 1/3 of my new salary, or just go ahead and write the full salary from my new employer.

You should put whatever you would assume your income to be at end of 2017, and that is the income you will need to show evidence of. You might still get a rfe since you are not at present employed and don't yet have ANY pay stubs. Normally just a letter stating future income will not be enough.

Actually, my paychecks go through August and I have stubs evidencing all of that.

 

We won't be filing for a few months yet; we aren't even getting married until July, so I will be employed.

That's good. Just collect as much evidence of the income as you can until filing and calculate what you expect your yearly 2017 to add up to. Also, you are only required to send the most recent complete return or transcript. The other two years it's enough to enter the total income you filed on your taxes.
