:( Sorry to hear about your situation. We wish there was something we could say that could take all the heart ache and pain away and bring you two together. Have faith in your love for each other and things will work out in the end. This is just another stone to get over. Like some have said it sounds like they want the form and the passport to stamp it with the visa. That sounds really promising. We are all here for you so if there is anything anyone can do dont hesitate to ask. Both of you will be in our thoughts and prayers. We wish both of you the best. Take care (F)

Hello everyone,

I'm back from Peru where we had our interview on the 15th. My worst case scenario was in fact played out.

We arrived at the building and turned in our documents and answered a few basic questions from a very nice lady. As we were sitting waiting for the interview from the CO, I noticed that indeed the old guy with glasses was there. I mentioned in my other post that this is the guy I did not want to see and have heard some bad things about. He was conducting interviews and there was another room where a lady was doing interviews. I knew in that moment that we would be interviewed by the guy.

Sure enough, Lu's name was called and we approached the window. He said "you're the fiancee?" I said yes, and then he told me to go back to the waiting area and take a seat. He said it in this indignant kind of way. I was sitting ear shot from Lu and could make out some of the conversation (it was in Spanish). He flipped through a couple of pictures in about 2 seconds and gave Lu back all of the evidence I had given. Then he began his questioning and interestingly enough, none of the questions had to do with our relationship. He proceeded to grill Lu about her parent's "situation" in the U.S. (they are living here, but under what conditions I am not totally sure.....it is possible they are overstaying a visa). This continued for about 15-20 minutes. She was then asked to supply fingerprints using the machine.

When the interrogation was done, he handed her a yellow piece of paper that mentions 221G and said that he needed a certificate of migratory movement for Lu and myself. He said that when this was complete to send it back into the office with her passport. If there were errors he would call her for a secondary interview. Lu and I then frantically searched around for where we could get these documents since neither of us have ever heard of it before. We finally got everything from the Peru immigration office on Saturday and she is going to send it off tomorow. We were given no timeframe for any kind of decision. In my opinion, this guy was just requesting this document to buy himself some more time to do some investigation and review our submission in more detail. Fortunately for us we were totally honest on all the forms and everything is in order. We left that room with a big question mark and a feeling of ####### just happened? We are neither approved nor declined.

After all of that preparation and hard work for the forms and getting ready for the interview, I was astonished that there weren't ANY questions regarding our relationship at all........almost as if it were secondary to whatever her parents situation is.

We're both very worried about this upcoming review and what will happen......that and we were given no expectation regarding timing. Our plan was to have her come over in mid-May and now it seems everything is in jeopardy.......where we will live, how long it will take, will she ever be able to meet my parents or see where I grew up, etc, etc

When I was leaving the airport in Lima, I just held Lu very close. The sadness was too much to escape. She started crying uncontrollably and when I was finally able to choke some words out and as what was wrong she said with tears running down her face that she did not know when she would see me again. My heart broke into a million pieces because for all my optimism, I knew I did not have an answer. I spent the next 12 hours of travel contemplating that question with the image of mi amor crying stuck in my mind. I've used up nearly all of my vacation time (until October) and these flights, ring, etc have done some damage to the old savings account.......in the end, after all of the contemplation, the answer to her question is I don't know.....and that has destroyed my heart. In all of my other trips, I always had an answer.....we always had the next milestone.....now all we have are questions, heartache and a hope that whatever this migratory document is....that it is enough.

La lucha sigue......I know that my optimism will return but right now everything just hurts. Walking into my empty home today was almost too much to take.

Look I know you are disappointed--but really this is pretty positive in fact. Because you were not denied--he just wants an extra certificate. He took your Novia's finger prints and has requested her passport with the extra certificate--which means he intends to stamp her passport with the K-1 visa once he receives the certificate and passport. (My wife and I had a very similiar situation with this very same guy. We recieved a yellow paper and had to get another extra certificate and we sent it in with her passport and What do you know we had the Visa--but a short delay. Yeah he comes across as a bit of a #######--his brand of sarcastic humor mostly--but its not that bad really--he is a typical American).

But just be positive! She will have the visa very soon and be able to come and be with you soon! Take care!

Merc... i'm praying for ya... always wishing the best for you and your sweetie...

I have not gotten as far as you have yet... but, reading everyone's responses... and especially artegal's.... well, i just had to agree... you were NOT given a REFUSAL... not sure what he was asking for specifically... but, it sounds like there is just a little more work needed to be done to gather the requested information...

and YOU CAN DO IT!!! You are determined, strong... not a quitter... and you are in love!!! I have faith that you will fulfill the requested information... and that your sweetie will be here with you soon. Maybe you and Artegal can email and work out together what specifically needs to be done... just know that THIS TOO SHALL PASS... and you will be with your sweetie soon! *huge hugs*

Blessings,

Lynne

I hope so too Mercury! I am leaving for Lima on this Wednesday. I will pack a can of whipass for this guy at the Embassy in my carryon if I can get it past TSA flunkies--considering Federal Agents recently passed through 21 times with real bombs pretty much I think I get a can or two of Whipass--or cheezewhiz and whipcream and sack of tomatoes! Hey my wife is preggers and traveling with me! But yeah it will come--don't let any Government Worker get you down.

Good luck Mercury! (F)

I haven't heard about 221g (what is this?)

I know exactly what you feel, it's the most horrible, saddest moment when you have to leave... But don't worry, things look pretty good for you, aren't they? You shouldn't feel down because the process is getting near the end now!

Good luck on your trip! It is really freakin hot there right now.....this ol boy from WI wasn't ready for that kind of heat yet.

As far as the whipass goes....shake well and distribute evenly.

Mi amor dropped off the forms at DHL today and they said her package should be ready on Thursday with the visa. Lu got really excited but I had to temper that a little bit by saying this is DHL that said that and not the embassy.....I thought it was a little irresponsible of them to say that there. I think most of the people that get that yellow form have to send back the certificado penal and not the migratory movement form I was requested to send.

Wow Merc...my fellow Wisconsinite!...that sounds like wonderful news(the LAST bit!) Certainly hope so. I'm sorry I only just saw this now a bit late..your post made me cry(all of that first part..heartwrenching indeed and I remember when Craig left here after that first summer with no timeframe in mind..can only imagine!! how YOU BOTH were feeling with all you were wondering about!) Then you made me laugh out loud at the running up the steps with the Rocky song in your head  and then again with the shake well and distribute evenly...very good. We make 'em funny here in WI!:) and then finally felt really happy for you when I read that (again, hopefully!) it sounds like it might not be too long..who knows..you may very well be able to stick with your original timeframe!(mid May etc) At any rate, all the very best to you, and Craig & I will be looking forward to meeting up with you and your lady love one day! :) :) :) Take care and hang in there..
