in spanish..negro= black....

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

the CIS countries the word негр (pronounced negr and derived from negro) commonly refers to somebody with the African ethnic roots and does not have any negative connotation. The direct translation of "black" (чёрный, pronounced chjornyj) can also refer nowadays to darker-skinned people from the southern regions of the former Soviet Union (Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan, etc.); it is considered a racist insult in all cases. niger is the Latin word for black. Maybe a typo.

I thought "negro" was the latin word for black? Maybe I need to brush up on my pig Latin a little

Latin was/is a language. Pig Latin is not.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

So if the company wanted to sell racist furniture in Russia, they would have to call it негр-чёрный? :P

You got that right ;)

It was funny. My friend who is from Belarus told me about her neighbor who moved. She told me the guy was a "nig*er". I know with her Russian accent, it sounded much worse. I told her to make sure she adds the "o" to the end of the end. I know what she was trying to say. She's in the US now.

That would be sand-***-brown :P

P.S. Ok, I'll stop. It's all a big joke to me but some people actually believe that words can offend.

I have a couch that was made out of the very Columbian coffee beans picked by Juan Valdez himself! My ottoman is made out of rice patties in China. Do you have racist names I can call my furniture? Sometimes I stub my toe walking by them and I'd like something new to call them when I stub my toe again!

Even if that were the case, I love the idea that they were going for some equivalent of "African-American brown" as a furniture color, whatever that would even mean...
