Huge house, here. Full of antique stuff, and so is half of the 3 car garage. There is an attic, which I've never seen because it is only accessible through the garage with a drop door ladder, and I don't do ladders thanks, and no basement. And hardly any of it is mine. I own what I came with, and haven't acquired a lot more.

Silver lining is, I don't have to deal with any of it. All the inheriting in this family is done down the female line, so UD gets the lot. Handily, she is also the Executor. I can lock the door and walk away.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Seriously this last box was packed in 2014 (I label) and in it was assorted seasonal items (a menorah, Danish christmas candles, St Pattie's Day decorations), a stack of photos from around when I was 5, and the very first stuffed animal given to me when I was born.  Poor Fluffly got tossed. :(

Thank your lucky stars she is the executor.  Cleaning out my dad's house was a nightmare.

It was actually so bad that my mother got rid of 75% of her stuff afterwards because she didn't want to make me go through it again.  The worst of it is that my dad acquired most of it in a 10-15 year period.  Blew a ton of money and just jammed stuff everywhere.

I had to do my Mother's apartment. I hadn't been home in a year when I visited, and that visit ended with her  going into care. All kinds of weird stuff. It's a good thing she couldn't work the oven or the stove top any more, because it was full of plastic grocery bags. The microwave was stuffed full of little take out packages of soy sauce, and I've no idea why, for she didn't like it. I don't know where  it all came from. I could hardly move in there, stuff piled everywhere. All of it carefully wrapped in newspaper, all these stacks and bundles of newspaper, some of the had books and magazines, others had clothes, and laundry in them. I've no idea what she thought she was doing.

Alzheimer's sucks.

My MIL's house could be on an episode of hoarders, it is crammed floor to ceiling, she's made walkways through the house.  She had a fall in Nov and we've told her she's not going back to her house until she clears it out as it's not safe - bad move on our part cos every time we turn round she's moved another mountain of 'stuff' into here!

I can see big trouble looming as it's driving us both crazy :(

In other news I talked hubby into getting my 17 yr old stepdaughter her first ever smart phone, I am currently the best thing in the world ever 😂

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey
