Been a busy day kid # 3's birthday.    Made her coconut cream pie as her birthday pie       and she wanted French dip and fires for her supper.

Husband passed his Learner's Permit test with 100% on the second attempt after failing on the first attempt!!!   Now I'm going to make him drive me to the gym this evening!

Happy Mother's Day to the Mums among us. Happy Sunday to the non Mums as well.

 

My own Mum won't know it's Mother's Day, she has Alzheimer's and is in a secure facility up in Barrie, Ontario. More or less persistently vegetative.  My sister in Barrie won't visit, never has, and my sister in Ajax will drive up and see her. Well, her husband will drive, as my sister never learned how. 

 

I'm off to cart the cut flowers from the UD  to the MIL, who has decided she wants them after all. She is still in hospital, on O2 and has had two transfusions. She sounds crappy on the phone. I have to go by the Rehab first, on the other side of town, to uplift some bits and pieces she wants.

 

Going to come home from there and groom the dog. I got clean out there yesterday with the dog to the groomer, and as I was her the drive she called to cancel. Pity she couldn't have called earlier. As this is the third time in a row, I think she's no longer interested in keeping her business going. In future, I'll just do it myself.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

2.  Given the deterioration, doesn't sound like MIL is long for this world, no Eh ma'am.
