Man what are you doing here anyway, should you be like doing some hillbilly woman stuff? Whatever it is that hillbilly women supposed to do...

Well I've already taken the Tornado to school. Took care of the chickens and now I'm researching a few things. I'll start cleaning the house in a bit, well I already did but the Jedi makes a mess as fast as I clean it.

Like drink diet Pepsi all day long or something, while eating pork rind...

Mmm...pork rind...

I don't drink anything diet. I'm allergic to the artificial sweetener. Plus I don't drink dark pop except root beer, but no caffeine stuff, I don't do caffeine.

I don't have any pork rinds in the house.

Thank you all, it's helpful to have input :)

I don't understand how anyone can marry someone and not realize that the kids come as part of the deal, they come first and everything else follows behind.

Off to find coffee, my poor brain hurts it's not used to this much exercise 😂

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Oh gosh the losing weight for the wedding dress talk.....I lost like 2 dress sizes for our wedding - started waywayway in advance( like a year ago). We got married last month and I'm pretty sure i've gained most of it back from overeating, drinking wine, etc. Oopssssss.

1.  Then start eating nonstop like a pig now, Nola-B. ma'am.

Oh this photo was 10 years ago when I was 20 before I got pregnant with my daughter and the 10 lbs of weight gain that came the month before that.  It is probably too lofty of a goal unless I want to put off renewing it beyond its expiry date.  In any case, I could aim for a better MN driver's license photo... I was pregnant with the little troll at the time and look like a mess.

my wife is as excited as the kid.

Here's the pros and cons.

1- this school is in fact, a forefront performing theatre on Broadway. And the classes are actually on Broadway. She will get a taste of show biz.

2- she does love ballet and performing Arts.

3- the DOE even suggested that it's a rare privilege. And should not be passed up.

Cons

The state ELA exams are coming up in third grade, I need her to ace them for the future middle school selections.

I need her to keep up her grade average.

She will travel by schoolbus once a week to Manhattan, and it's a long rigorous schedule. It goes on 6 week cycles. She will be under pressure to keep up or get dropped.

With that said. She wss prancing around the house all day yesterday. Very excited. I'd hate to disappoint her. But I'm looking into getting a tutor for her.

If she is as smart as you thinks she is, she will have no problem on the exams despite missing a lot of school.  I never did.

It's hard, she was basically left to herself for 2 years after her mom died and as she gets good grades and is quiet, doesn't go out roaming the streets everyone assumed she was a 'good, sensible kid' and she's not wild or acting out she is just incredibly immature, gullible and naive - she looks like a full grown woman but has the maturity of a 10 year old - not a good mix...

I was wondering why you were treating a 17 year old like a child, but now it makes more sense.  These are conversations I've had with my 8 year old when I gave her her smartphone.  For example, she got the "don't take naked pictures of yourself or anyone else ever", "don't talk to anyone or text anyone not on your approved contact list", etc.

Why have a child if you aren't going to be part of their life?

It wasn't intentional neglect or that no one cared but her mom died suddenly and left a lot of debt so her Dad had to work constantly and she spent a lot of time with her grannies and neither are tech savvy so internet use got overlooked.  That and she was her moms only child so her maternal granny gives her everything she wants.

That has changed in the last year since I got here but still work in progress...

I know too many kids that got raised by nannies or au pairs for a variety of reasons.  I, on the other hand, have a little creature attached to me like a lichen.  It is such a wonderful thing that I'm not sure how any parent would willingly give it up.  Obviously, most parents need to work, but in their free time...

Ah now quitting smoking was much easier once I moved here cos I don't like America cigarettes lol

I traded cigarettes for a vape thingy ( a little one )

Not quitting coffee until I quit breathing 😂

I've been chewing nicotine gum on an internet guide. Keep smoking, don't cold turkey. I'm down to about 7-10 a day. In 3 months.

Rant time:

Several towns away from us, this parent is throwing a huge fit and called the paper about policies that have long been in place in school districts in this part of the country.  She's new to the area and obviously hasn't gotten the memo that you really shouldn't be trying to change everything about a place when you move there.  It is rude.  Yeah, it took me by surprise that school districts here go on field trips without any prior warning or approval as long as it is in town or a nearby town.  It is kind of weird randomly encountering your child's whole class right outside your living room window, but whatever, it is part of small town life.

Now this lady thinks that we should all cater to her whims, which is exactly why newcomers aren't usually overly embraced.   Don't like the school's policies that 99.9% of the other parents have no problems with?  Send your kid to private school or homeschool them.
