Every time I read or hear about the hassle parents and teachers go through in the US I am so thankful that I went to a school in Sweden and it makes me not excited about having kids :P

Finished the fence at the front of moms house. Should probably do the fence in the backyard one day but apparently it's going to rain tomorrow so that's not happening.

Oh boy. I had my N-400 interview on the 12th, and the chap ticked the approval box and congratulated me on passing the interview. Told me the Oath would likely be in Little Rock, most likely in August. If they didn't have one in four months, they'd call me back to Memphis to do it.

In my USPS Informed Delivery email this morning, there is a letter coming today from USCIS, Memphis. It's dated, in the little clear window in the envelope, on the 12th, the same day I was there, and sent out on the 13th.

What. Now.

Going to be a long day waiting for the letter carrier. And I'll make book that as I am waiting for this thing, he won't get here today until late.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

What is this school kit thing Steve?  We just get a regular list of supplies you can get anywhere and in any form you like.  We'll be getting our list in a few weeks on registration day.  Else than that I've just been giving worksheets I've printed out during our 3+ months of summer vacation.

The US has like 100 billion million kids goin' ta skool.

Sweden only has 9 kids, so it's easy...

Yeah that must be why :P  That's also the reason why parents doesn't have to buy the materials for the kids.

We (The SLT/ PTA) contract this company (Usually a Staples company). Send home a flyer with the kids with the requested supplies. The parents can order their supplies through it at a 10% discount.

In August, these supply kits are  delivered to the school. Each box labeled with the kid's name, and makes it's way to the kid's new classroom. Voila.

But this is the last year we're using this company. So the ordering window was only %$#@@#$% 10 days!

We don't have to either. NYC/ NYS has a huge budget for the kids. The schools get that money individually. (That's why we have a parents executive board, which I'm on. As a overseer to this budget as well)

In the middle to upper neighborhoods, the schools ask the parents to buy these things so that the money allotted for these supplies can be used for other things.

You get on the site, punch in your school's code, and select a grade. pay for it, type in your name. It's that easy.

The girls were playing. I told the older one not to play with the door. No sooner than when I said that, she closes the door as the little one ran by. Wham!

So the older one gets an ice bag for the little Turtle's head. So what does the little one do? Takes the ice bag and puts it on her butt...
