My steak knives only come out for steak - they have wood handles and don't really belong in the dishwasher.

I wash all the pots/pans/tins by hand, but I often times cook several things in a day and dinner has several items that requires multiple prep things.  The 2x a day is usually when I've made something in the stand mixer or used several large bowls.

About $30 at the natural food store, 200 at Target, and 60 at Lowes.  :jest:

Debated getting a shotgun today, but I need to decide whether we are getting a cheap one or a more expensive one as a joint anniversary gift to each other.  That's true love right there.  The Dane keeps suggesting a get a handgun, but I don't think they are safe with children, especially one like the troll who absolutely must touch everything he can get his hands on.

I'm weirdly protective of our steak knives because: 1.  they are older than I am and 2.  they are the Hoffritz made in Germany ones and they are pretty rare to still have in a set

I don't know if it is a healthy mindset I have going on, but I kind of feel like when quality things get entrusted to me that where owned by my parents, grandparents, or even great-grandparents, that I am their caretaker until the next generation.   Even this 100 year old house is like that.

I think our regular table knives are pretty sharp, but if they aren't we keep several paring knives in the kitchen for cutting apples, etc.

Well, you are accordingly excused and forgiven, Nola-B. ma'am.

Of interest to us is Mrs. T-B.'s preference for new over old, not-eclectic she man.

Perhaps this is a hangover from life in Ecu, where people use things forever till they fall apart, end-of-useful-life man.

This was evidenced by Mrs. T-B.'s initial fascination with the alien concept of resale stores, develop Goodwill she man.

And, of course, GSs/ESs, "too much gringo 'stuff'" called it initially she man.

Several of our first road-trip vacations were centered around visits to thrift stores, hit Many in a day man.

Mrs. T-B. stocked her closet with much designer stuff in those early days, see the value she man.

She has been hitting said stores again in prep for taking stuff to family in Ecu, ciudadana Americana she man.

We had cajun food yesterday, first time eating deep fried anything in MONTHS.  It was okay but I think they over cooked the shrimp.  Hubs enjoyed his gumbo.  Then we had a huge cold stone creamery ice cream in a chocolate waffle cone.  I told hubs I wasn't counting calories yesterday because of anniversary.  Back to the grind today.

It's sunny!

Going to set my my sewing machine in the conservatory and get busy. Once I finish grooming the dog, I was waiting on the new thinning shears.

Just missed Toad Suck Daze this year. I've got a couple of friends from NZ arriving in July, I must think of something to take them to. They want to go to Branson to see the Titanic display thing, but I'll still have a couple of days to fill in. I was thinking Hot Springs, if it isn't too busy, I've only been there in October but I would think the summer might make it a busy place. The heat here alone in July will send them for a spin, it's winter at home.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

What are you making?  I'm in the middle of making seat cushions for our dining rooms chairs and undies for the little troll (so much softer than store bought).

For lunch I made spinach, strawberries, bananas, and french toast for the fam.  Yummy.

I can't believe you had Cajun food, and there's no Cajun food pic...

And, back to the grind pic...

I got a new purse tonight. I wanted something smaller as I don't need to carry as much for the kids.

Hillbilly went to the candy place in the mall grabbed me some chocolate covered amaretto pecan's and salted caramel cashews.

Then had to run over to walmart to grab some lunch meat and fruit snacks for tomorrow. We are headed to magic springs for the day.

Did hillbilly make a mess of himself eating caramel?

And, magic pic...
