Kitchen renovations are super expensive unless you do the work yourself and buy Ikea cabinets, but that might not be an upgrade on what you have.  

Do we all live in parallel universes with dogs to walk and ugly kitchens? My dog gets 20 minutes, tops. I love him but not that much. I don't even want to think about what it would cost to truly do something worthwhile with our kitchen. For now, we're going to build a stone patio outside. I'm sort of psyched for that summer project. We have a great shade tree just outside our back door. It'll be nice getting an outside table and chairs and dine out during the warm summer NM nights.

Cabinets are original to the 1973 cheap house.  We want to completely change the layout however, so thats where the expense comes in because it needs to be gutted, doors added, walls changed etc. At least a 50k project imho.

70s cabinets are not my fave.  Are they solid wood?

 

I've come to just accept my kitchen for what it is - it is acceptable now with the newly painted cabinets and floor redone.  I sense that anything we do would probably require bumping out the house and taking down the ceiling, etc.  Definitely not a now thing.

Curse of a house with a ridiculous number of windows:  birds and bees bumping into them all day long.  Nothing gets you jumping like a hard thump on the window right behind you.

I was sitting out back with the dog last night, just at dusk. Heard a very loud humming buzzing sort of sound, right beside me. The Humming birds are back, and he landed right next to me. I hung out the feeder today.

I haven't seen any of those near us but I remember them growing up.  Every spring we get invaded by migrating birds and get lots of nests.  I see that one the nest over our front door today that the baby birds have become fledglings and are getting too big for the nest.  One of them just jumped out.  Their parents are working overdrive combing our lawn for insects.

 

The Dane is going to be bummed because of the most Scandinavian calls just came out over the fire radio.  Maybe an appropriate time since yesterday was syttende mai with parades galore.

Theyre wood and they've been painted.  But the kitchen doesnt have a good layout.  Hubs wants to completely get rid of the sliding glass door which I hadn't thought of. But it would give me space to get rid of much of the wall between the kitchen and living room and solve the issue of no entrance from the garage.
