Not in agony is a good thing, and I'm inclined that stoned off his face is as well :)

MILs....they must have gone  to some school and got a PHD in Total Miserable Cowness before we turned up. I hear you on the break too. We took three trips last  year, and left her behind, but of course I had to take my other patient with me. He's good on the whole, unless his BP crashes, and that's not hard to deal with, but I have to do it. So even on holiday, I am watching all the time. Would be great to just take off without a care in the world, wouldn't it.

She's been unwell for 6 years and he has been for 5, and sometimes it's just a litany of complaint from get up till lay down. :girlwerewolf2xn:

Today he's just depressed and convinced he's going to be dependent on Ned's forever...

MIL has decided she's going to live here but keep her house full of stuff...that means we have no guest room and can't use her house as it's not habitable - means my family can't visit and that is not acceptable - big rows fixing to happen!

Im with you on holidays, we've had 3, MIL came on all and for the last one we had rednecks late wife's parents too...some days running away seems like a good plan 😂😂

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Hubs and I are both afraid of his mother visiting for fear she won't leave.  I'm too strong willed to put up with BS but too nice to say she can't stay either.  Of course hubs solves this by us going to visit her and BIL's family. Need to buy those tickets...

FWIW she did this exact thing with BIL. Granted she was staying with her sister before then and it wasnt a good situtation for her.

I'm glad he and I are on the same page with this.  I do feel bad that his family can't afford to visit  (apparently) but my mother comes once a year.  But I certainly will not tell her no just to make him feel better.  He always seems to be in OKC when she visits anyhow. LOL

My MIL hinted broadly when we went to NZ last February.  You'd have had to be totally deaf to miss it....but somehow, I managed. No siree, NOT.  She pulled the same stunt when we went to BC in August, so see my son. I hadn't seen him in ten years, and the last person I was taking with me would have been her, yammering away in the backseat on a cross country drive.  Although I did have a funny mental picture, her coming to grips with my son, and his husband, and my grand daughter...the cat. She said she had relatives there she wanted to catch up with. Turns out they are relatives in the sense that she found them on Ancestry, and they've never heard of her. Yah, nah.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

How We Spent Our Father's Day

by T-B., we man

Got to bed about Many (2x2x2x2) minutes before Many a.m., laundry man.

Set alarm for half-past Many (2x2x2+1) a.m., Heap Strong medicine ingest we man.

Awakened by Mrs. T-B. at Many (2x2x2) a.m., intrusive she man.

Mrs. T-B.:  I'm going to my jeem.  Mini-B. will be playing on his computer.

T-B.:  [grooooooooan, man]

We never really fell back to sleep, dead we man.

Upon alarm, dragged ourself out of bed, groggy we man.

Mrs. T-B. returns from her gym, return she man.

Mrs. T-B.:  Why aren't you ready?  We're going out for Mexican.

T-B. [groggily]:  Huh, man?

Mrs. T-B.:  I called Mama T-B., and she's excited.

T-B. [groggily]:  But we wanted to take Mini-B. to Burger King for chicken fries, see man.

Mrs. T-B.:  Shall I call Mama T-B. and cancel?

T-B. [groggily]:  [groooooan] Oj nie, man.

Ineffective ingestation of caffeine and half-hearted readiness of self, we man.

Load Mrs. T-B. & Mini-B. into Mrs.-T-B.-mobile, assemble we & she & wee man.

Pick up Mama T-B., senior she man.

Ingest Mexican, we & she & wee & senior she man.

Mrs. T-B. again forgot a card for us, ADD she man.

Nearly fall asleep on drive to casa, need zzz we man.

Dimly realize need for casa-hold chore, remember we man.

T-B.:  Carino, can we get your help in replacing bulbs in the front-porch light, unsteady we man?

Mrs. T-B.:  I'm tired.  Can't it wait?

Replace bulbs ourself, somehow don't fall off ladder man.

Begin Laundry Load #1, job of husband man.

Realize that Mrs. T-B.'s warsh must be bifurcated again this week, Many (2+2) vs. Many (2+1) total loads man.

Nap-with-cat for 2+ hours, not enough man.

Conquer Laundry Loads #2 & #Many, one left man.

After internal debate, resolve to mow lawn, hurricane possible later in week man.

Inform Mrs. T-B. of same, inform we she man.

Mrs. T-B.:  I want to cook for dinner.

T-B.:  Will you make US what WE want, for once, huh man?

Mrs. T-B.:  Of course!  What do you want?

T-B.:  We told you twice yesterday, and you know, si man:  macaroni with tuna & mushroom soup, si man.

Mrs. T-B.:  But I have a big piece of puerco [pork] that I was going to make.

T-B.:  We don't want puerco, please man; and we aren't super-hungry after lunch, oj nie.

Mrs. T-B.:  OK.

At half-past Many (2x2x2) o'clock, exit to mow lawn, enough of it in shadow man.

Last week's removal of Mini-B.'s dilapidated swingset eased job greatly, major boon man.

Job did not kill us, made us stronger man.

After shower and wrangling more laundry, inquire about dinner, ask we man.

Mrs. T-B.:  Here are some hot dogs, and you can have Mini-B.'s leftover cheeseburger from lunch.

T-B.:  What about our tuna glop, huh man?

Mrs. T-B. [with blank/scared ADD look]:  You said you weren't hungry, so I made you two hot dogs.

T-B. [to self]: :bonk:, man

Ate bunless hot dogs and cold cheeseburger, ingest we man.

Hope your back is better soon.

The squishy faced one (Oscar the dog) is not being himself, he's skittish and not eating, I'm hoping his mouth (which has inoperable tumors) isn't hurting him, he's moved from the U.K. with me and I promised him I'd let him go when he wasn't enjoying himself anymore but I'm not ready :(
