My daughter was born abroad about a month ago,and my fiance is going in to interview for her K1 visa. We don't want to bring our child to USA until she turns one. Do we need to make paperwork for our daughter now even if she is not coming to USA yet if my fiance is approved.

If you have sufficient US physical presence to transmit US citizenship to your daughter (i.e, you spent at least 5 years in the US prior to her birth, 2 of which were after you were 14 years old), you should get your child documented as a US citizen now.  It doesn't mean she will have to travel with you,  but it will be easier now and it will protect her claim to US citizenship should anything happen to you.  Apply for her Consular Report of Birth Abroad and US passport and she will be ready to go to the US whenever you want.

Yes, apply for CRBA now to get your daughter US citizenship and a US pasport.

Often, the embassy will not allow the mom to get a K-1 or CR-1  until the baby's xitizenship is settled.

Thank you for the very fast response.

About the CBRA, I cannot get off work to travel to her country. Do I send my DS5507 along with the CBRA application?
